5MMM (identified on air and in print as Triple M) is a radio station broadcasting in Adelaide, Australia. Its target demographic is the 30-54 age group. Triple M Adelaide is part of Southern Cross Austereo's Triple M Network and broadcasts on the 104.7 MHz frequency.

Triple M Adelaide has in the past simply networked the majority of its shows from its Sydney and Melbourne counterpart stations, but since 2011 it has focussed more on local content.

The city occupies much of the coastline of Port Phillip bay and spreads into the hinterlands towards the Dandenong and Macedon ranges, Mornington Peninsula and Yarra Valley. History

5MMM had its origins as an AM radio station, commencing broadcasting as 5KA on 25 March 1927 on the frequency 1200 kHz.

In 1941 the station and its repeater 5AU, along with interstate stations 2HD and 4AT, were closed by the Federal Government after allegations of fifth column activities. These stations were associated with the Jehovah's Witnesses, which opposed participation in the War, and had other doctrines seen as un-patriotic. [1] In 1943 5KA was reopened after purchase by the Methodist Church, and became attached to the Central Methodist Mission, largely organised by Reverend Samuel Forsyth. The station changed frequency to 1197 kHz in 1978.

5AU is a South Australian radio station broadcasting a classic hits format from its transmitter site at Mambray Creek into the Whyalla, Port Augusta, Port Pirie, Kadina, Moonta and Wallaroo area and north into the Flinders Ranges.

2HD

2HD is an Australian radio station in New South Wales. Owned and operated as part of the Super Radio Network of stations, it currently broadcasts a news talk and classic hits format to Newcastle, New South Wales and the surrounding Hunter region. First broadcast on 27 January 1925, it was established by founder Harry Douglas - from which the station derives its name - and is based in studios in Sandgate alongside sister station New FM.

Fifth column group of people who undermine a larger group

A fifth column is any group of people who undermine a larger group from within, usually in favour of an enemy group or nation. The activities of a fifth column can be overt or clandestine. Forces gathered in secret can mobilize openly to assist an external attack. This term is also extended to organised actions by military personnel. Clandestine fifth column activities can involve acts of sabotage, disinformation, or espionage executed within defense lines by secret sympathizers with an external force.

In the early 1980s, 5KA adopted a country music format and re-branded itself 12K. The format was short-lived.

Country music, also known as country and western, and hillbilly music, is a genre of popular music that originated in the southern United States in the early 1920s. It takes its roots from genres such as folk music and blues.

On 1 January 1990, 5KA became the first of two commercial AM radio stations in Adelaide to convert to the FM band. The station bid $5.5 million in a priced based allocation process the previous year for the FM licence. 5KA moved to the frequency 104.7 MHz and the AM frequency was relinquished. With the FM conversion, the 5KA call-sign was changed to 5KKA and the station was branded on-air as KAFM. The AM frequency was re-purposed and allocated to a community broadcasting licence, 5RPH. The former transmission equipment which was co-located with competitor 5AD at the time was handed over to the operators contracted to provide transmission facilities to 5RPH, but the infrastructure was effectively abandoned.

RPH Australia is the national peak representative organisation for a unique Australian network of radio reading service designed to meet the daily information needs of people who, for any reason, are unable to access normal printed material. It is conservatively estimated that 18.4% of the Australian population has a print disability.

In 1993, Hoyts Media which owned the Triple M radio network in the eastern states had bought 5KKA but could not adopt the Triple M call-sign in Adelaide as a community radio station already had the call-sign 5MMM. Hoyts then paid 5MMM for the right to use the Triple M name. The community station 5MMM then converted to 5DDD, and 5KKA was then free to change its call-sign to 5MMM and adopt the Triple M network brand. With the merger of the Hoyts Triple M network into the Austereo Network, the station became a sister station to SAFM, and relocated to the ground floor of the building that was partly occupied by SAFM at the time.

As of 2014, it had reverted to a classic rock format comparable to similar formats in the eastern states.

Digital radio

Since September 27, 2014, Triple M is simulcast on Digital Radio in Adelaide.

During AC/DC's 2010 Australian tour, Triple M aired High Voltage Radio, a "pop up" digital radio station that exclusively played AC/DC. [2] High Voltage stopped being aired at the conclusion of the tour on 15 March 2010.

HIT 105

hit105 is a commercial FM radio station broadcasting in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, on a frequency of 105.3 MHz, and is part of Southern Cross Austereo's Hit Network. The station was previously branded as B105 following its conversion from AM to FM. This lasted until a co-branding as "Hit 105.3 B105", then as "Hit B105" and finally dropped the "B" reference to its present brand identity "hit105". The B had referred to Brisbane.

102.9 Triple M Newcastle is an Australian radio station, licensed to, and serving Newcastle and surrounds. It broadcasts at 102.9 megahertz on the FM band from its studios in Newcastle. It is owned by Southern Cross Austereo and Its sister station is hit106.9.

101.7 WSFM

101.7 WS FM is a radio station broadcasting in Sydney, Australia. Its main content is commercial music, in particular classic hits from 1960 to about 2003, but with a stronger focus from 1970 to 1999. The station is part of the Pure Gold Network

Cruise 1323

Cruise 1323 is one of Adelaide's longest running radio stations. In its 80+ years it has changed considerably. It was the first commercial station to begin broadcasting in South Australia.

Triple M Central West is an Australian radio station, licensed to Orange, New South Wales. It is owned and operated by Macquarie Regional RadioWorks, and transmits on 105.1 MHz on the FM band. It originally broadcast on 990 kHz, before switching to 1089 kHz, before switching to the FM band. The former Am frequency of 1089 was turned into a relay station of an automated Sydney station, and later purchased by Broadcast Operations Group.

HIT 107

Sea FM

Sea FM is an Australian radio network, consisting of stations in Queensland and New South Wales and is owned by Southern Cross Austereo. Prime Television Limited purchased Sea FM Townsville in Queensland and Grant Broadcasters purchased Sea FM stations in Devonport and Burnie in Tasmania. All Sea FM stations currently owned by Southern Cross Austereo except Cairns, Mackay and Rockhampton / Gladstone, are part of the Hit Network after Southern Cross Media merged with Austereo.
