Afmadow is a district in Lower Jubba of Somalia. The district capital is Afmadow. [1] It was first established as a town in 1896.
Lower Juba is an administrative region (gobol) in southern Somalia. With its capital at Kismayo, it lies in the autonomous Jubaland region. It has green forests and wildlife including lions, giraffes, hippos, crocodiles, and hyenas.

The distance between Afmadow and Kismayo is 110 kilometers or 68 miles.
The Battle of Ras Kamboni took place during the Somalia War (2006–2009) fought by the Islamic Courts Union (ICU) and affiliated militias against Ethiopian and the Somali Transitional Federal Government (TFG) forces for control of Ras Kamboni, a town near the Kenyan border which once served as a training camp for the militant Islamist group Al-Itihaad al-Islamiya.

Early in the morning on 1 April 2011 Somali troops and Raskamboni troops launched an attack on the strategic town of Dhobley, a few hundred Somali troops attacked the town from the Kenyan border. After a few hours of attacks the Somali troops seized Dhobley, resulting in a counterattack from Al Shabaab. Al Shabaab received reinforcements from Afmadow and Kismayo but the counterattack failed. Somali Armed Forces remained control over Dhobley and lost 3 soldiers during these operations.
Bilis Qooqaani is a town in the Afmadow district of the Lower Juba region of southern Somalia. The city is approximately 70 kilometers away from the Kenya-Somali border and has an estimated population of around 55,000 -80,000.

He was nominated on 15 June 2022, by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, and he was endorsed by parliament on 25 June 2022. Hamza is also a parliamentarian elected to the House of the People of the Federal Parliament of Somalia on 28 December 2021, representing the Afmadow constituency of Middle Juba.
