The Ethiopian–Somali conflict is a territorial and political dispute between the countries of Ethiopia and Somalia. Lasting from the late 1940s, when the Ogaden region was handed over to Ethiopia by the British, into the present day, the tensions culminated in three wars and numerous military clashes alongside the borders. However, because of the Somali Civil War and the lack of a functioning central government in Somalia since the collapse of the Democratic Republic of Somalia in 1991, Ethiopia has the upper hand militarily and economically.

The Battle of Baidoa began on December 20, 2006 when the Somali Somali Transitional Federal Government's forces (TFG) allied with occupying Ethiopian forces attacked the Islamic Courts Union (ICU).

Even before the beginning of the War in Somalia (2006-2009) there were significant assertions and accusations of the use of disinformation and propaganda tactics, classed as forms of information warfare, by various parties to shape the causes and course of the conflict. These include assertions of falsification of the presence or number of forces involved, exaggeration or minimisation of the casualties inflicted or taken, influence or control of media outlets, and other informational means and media to sway popular support and international opinion.

Hasan Muhammad Nur Shatigadud

Colonel Hasan Muhammad Nur Shatigadud was a Somali politician and faction leader. He served as the chairman of the Rahanweyn Resistance Army (RRA), and subsequently as the first President of the short-lived Southwestern Somalia autonomous regional state. Shatigadud was later a Member of the Transitional Federal Parliament, and was eventually appointed Minister of Finance in the Transitional Federal Government. Shatigadud was succeeded as president by Madobe Nunow.

Shatigadud International Airport Baidoa Somalia is an airport serving Baidoa, the capital city of the Bay region in Somalia.

Two suicide bombers attacked a busy junction and a restaurant in the Somali town Baidoa. 30 people, mostly civilians, were killed and another 40 were injured. Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility, saying they targeted government officials and security forces.
