Beled Hawo District (Somali : Degmada Beled Xaawo) is a district in the southwestern Gedo region of Somalia. Its capital is Beled Hawo.

In 2000, the district commissioner was Nur Matan Abdi. [1]

She is the former Minister of Health and Social Care of Somalia, having been appointed to the position on 27 January 2015 by the now former Prime Minister Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke. Hawo Hassan Mohamed was subsequently sacked from her post as Minister of Health and Social Care by former Prime Minister Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke and replaced with Mohamed Haji AbdiNur on 24 June 2016.

The Jidwaq is a large Somali clan, part of one of the largest Somali clans families, the Absame Darod. Jidwaq are well known for their conquests in Abyssinia during the 1500s they played a very prominent role in the Adal Sultanate. They are famous for bringing the largest army and were very loyal to Imam Ahmad. Jidwaq have produced notable generals such as Ahmed Girri Bin Hussein who was the right hand man of Ahmad ibn Ibrahim al-Ghazi.

Nur Matan Abdi is a Somali politician and military commander who served in the Transitional Federal Parliament of Somalia in the 2000s. He was one of the commanders of the Somali National Army during the 2009 phase of the Somali Civil War. In 2011, he led government forces in a battle against al-Shabaab militants in Garbahare, pushing the militants out of the city.
