Apple Creek Township was founded in 1872. [3] The township takes its name from Apple Creek. [4]
Apple Creek Township covers an area of 83.38 square miles (216.0 km2) and contains two incorporated settlements: Oak Ridge and Old Appleton. Known cemeteries include: African Methodist Church, Amos/Robbins, Arnsberg, Bruihl/Ludwig/Lang, Clippard 2, Day, Dickman, Drum, Erley/Dambach, Fulbright, Goshen, Hilterbrand, Hines, New Salem, Oak Ridge Baptist Church, Rumfelt/Wheeler, Shoults, Sides, Tuschhoff, Wilson, Zion Methodist.
The streams of Allie Creek, Froggy Branch, Hughes Creek, Little Apple Creek, Poor Creek, Sandy Branch, Sandy Creek and South Fork Apple Creek run through this township.
Perry County is a county located in the southeastern portion of the U.S. state of Missouri. As of the 2020 census, the population was 18,956. Its county seat is Perryville. The county was officially organized on November 16, 1820 from Ste. Genevieve County and was named after Oliver Hazard Perry, a naval hero of the War of 1812.

The "cape" in the county's name is named after a former promontory rock overlooking the Mississippi River; this feature was demolished during railroad construction. Cape Girardeau County is the hub of the Cape Girardeau–Jackson metropolitan area. Its largest city is Cape Girardeau.
