The winning margin was 4.22 metres which as of 2024 remains the greatest winning margin in the men's discus throw at these games, beating the previous record set at the 1958  Cardiff  games by 1 cm.

Aled Siôn Davies is a Welsh Paralympian athlete competing mainly in category F42 throwing events. In 2012 he became the world record holder of the F42 shot put and in the 2012 Summer Paralympics he took the bronze medal in shot put and gold in the discus.
