Bhayandar is located in the western suburbs of Mumbai and near the Vasai Creek and it is in Thane District. It has a large Aagri, Koli and Marathi population as well other mixed populations as well. It falls under Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation.

Geography

Bhayander is located on the northern portion of Salsette Island and at the northern part of the Konkan region. Bhayandar comes under the jurisdiction of Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation. [1] The entire Mira-Bhayandar region lies just outside Mumbai Suburban district and officially belongs to Thane district, despite being closer to the island of Mumbai. [2] [3] The Mira-Bhayandar region comprises an area of 79 km2. A vast creek divides the Mumbai suburban zones (in which Bhayander falls) and Vasai-Virar. In the north lies Vasai Creek, to the east Sanjay Gandhi National Park, and the Uttan coast to the west. It mainly is of Deccan lava terrain and consists of waterlogged and marshy areas. The climate is tropical, wet and dry. [1]

Mira Road is a suburb in the northern part of the western suburbs of Mumbai which stretches from Bandra to Bhayandar in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. Mira road is situated in the north-western portion of Salsette Island, Maharashtra state, India. Mira road has a large Gujarati population followed by Marathi along with other population groups.

Gorai ([ɡoɾaːi]) is a village at Dharavi Bhet, in Mumbai, India. It is located on the North-western part of the island of Salsette. The Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Transport (MBMT) is a public transport service owned by the Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC), which commenced operations in 2006 as a local bus services connecting interconnecting various places in the Mira-Bhayandar area. Presently, these buses are run by a private company Kestrel Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd. Kestrel will pay a royalty of Re 1 per kilometer to the MBMT. Presently MBMT operates in Mira-Bhayander, Thane, Borivali, Uttan and Andheri. Its fleet consists of non-AC TATA Marcopolo CNG buses and a handful of Volvo AC buses.

Uttan is a coastal town just north of Mumbai in Thane district of Maharashtra. A coastal town, it comes under the jurisdiction of the Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation. Part Jurisdiction is also handed over to the Mumbai Meteropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA). Uttan is located 8 km away from Bhayandar. Its population consist of mainly East Indian Catholics. Its inhabitants are mostly farmers and fishermen. Uttan also has various resorts and tourists are attracted mainly to Valenkanni Beach.

Red Line 9 (extension) of the Mumbai Metro is part of the metro system for the city of Mumbai, India. Metro Line 9 is an extension of the Red Line from Andheri to CSMIA and Dahisar to Mira Road. This line will be unique from the other metro lines because it will run on a double-decker bridge. There will be a flyover on the first deck and the metro will run on the second deck. The flyover will start near the proposed Shivaji Chowk metro station and will end in Bhayander (West) via Mira Bhayander Road. It shall provide interconnectivity among the Western Express Highway, the Western Line, and the Mumbai Metro.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Syed Muzaffar Hussain</span> Indian National Congress Politician

Syed Muzaffar Hussain is an Indian National Congress politician from Mira Bhainder City located in Thane district who has twice served on the Legislative Council for the state of Maharashtra. He was elected as Corporator to the Mira-Bhayander Municipal Council in 1991. He served as First Deputy Mayor of Mira Bhayandar City when Municipal Corporation was formed. He is currently Parliamentary Board Member of Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee. Known for his oratory skills he has won Best Parliamentarian, Best Speaker Award by President of India Smt. Pratibatai Patil.
