Caplinger Mills Historic District is a national historic district located at Caplinger Mills, Cedar County, Missouri. The district includes one contributing site and three contributing structure related to the development and use of water power in Cedar County. It developed between about 1895 and 1943, and includes a grist mill site, dam, power house and double span Pratt with two pony truss approach spans bridge (1895). [2]

Caplinger Mills is an unincorporated community in northern Cedar County, Missouri, United States. Several homes are located in the community, along with an old mill. It is on the Sac River.

Cedar County, Missouri County in the United States

Cedar County is a county located in the southwest portion of the U.S. state of Missouri. As of the 2010 census, the population was 13,982. Its county seat is Stockton. The county was founded February 14, 1845, and named after Cedar Creek, a tributary of the Sac River, which in turn is named from the Eastern red cedar, a common tree of the area.

It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993. [1]

It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the Marine Mill Site in 1970 for having state-level significance in the themes of exploration/settlement, industry, and transportation. It was nominated for being the birthplace of the region's seminal industry—lumbering—and a major landing on its crucial transportation route, the St. Croix River. The site is also a contributing property to the Marine on St. Croix Historic District.

Dillard Mill State Historic Site

The Dillard Mill State Historic Site is a privately owned, state-administered property on Huzzah Creek in Crawford County, Missouri, that preserves a water-powered gristmill. The 132-acre (53 ha) site has been operated as a state historic site by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources under a lease agreement with the L-A-D Foundation since 1975. The site was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2015.

Stuyvesant Falls Mill District

Stuyvesant Falls Mill District is a national historic district located at Stuyvesant in Columbia County, New York. The district includes six contributing buildings, five contributing sites, and two contributing structures. They are the industrial sites and power sources from which the adjoining village of Stuyvesant Falls derived its livelihood. It includes the Upper and Lower Falls and mill dams; on the east bank of Kinderhook Creek the sites of a grist mill and paper mill, cotton mill, woolen mill complex and extant hydroelectric plant; west bank operations including three extant 19th century cotton mills and several dwellings. Also included is an iron truss bridge erected in 1899.

Whittier Mill Village

Whittier Mill Village, originally Chattahoochee, a recognized neighborhood of Atlanta on the Upper Westside of Atlanta. It is roughly contiguous with the Whittier Mills Historic District, both locally- and NRHP-listed. The mill and the adjacent village were founded in 1895. The area is a good example of a Southern mill and village. Only remnants of the mill remain. However, the housing areas mostly have survived.

Old Kentucky Turnpike Historic District

Old Kentucky Turnpike Historic District is a national historic district located at Cedar Bluff, Tazewell County, Virginia. The district encompasses 35 contributing buildings, 3 contributing sites, and 3 contributing structures along Indian Creek Road and Indian Creek. They date from the late-19th to mid-20th centuries. Notable resources include the concrete bridge, steel railroad trestle, Cecil-Watkins House, Ratliff House, Cedar Bluff Presbyterian Church, the boyhood home of Governor George C. Peery (1873–1952), Thomas Cubine House, Gillespie House, the Old Cedar Bluff High School, Cedar Bluff High School (1906), and the Old Cedar Bluff Town Hall. Also located in the district is the separately listed Clinch Valley Roller Mills.

Jesse Whitesell House and Farm

The Jesse Whitesell House and Farm is a historic property in Fulton County, Kentucky, and Obion County, Tennessee. The house, which is located in Kentucky, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977. The associated farm was added to the National Register in 2009 as a historic district. The historic district includes about 215 acres (87 ha) of land that spans the state line, five contributing buildings and five other contributing sites.

Kesler Manufacturing Co.–Cannon Mills Co. Plant No. 7 Historic District is a national historic district located at Salisbury, Rowan County, North Carolina. The district encompasses 109 contributing buildings and 1 contributing structure consisting of a complex of industrial buildings and mill dwellings. It largely developed between about 1895 and 1930, and includes notable examples of Gothic Revival and Bungalow / American Craftsman style architecture. Notable buildings include the Kesler Manufacturing Company/Cannon Mills complex (1895–1930), Kepley–Trexler House, Henry–Kesler Manufacturing Company House (1910), Kimball–Kesler Mill House (1916), and Morgan–Kesler Manufacturing Company House (1914).

State Center Commercial Historic District

The State Center Commercial Historic District is a nationally recognized historic district located in State Center, Iowa, United States. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002. At the time of its nomination it contained 36 resources, which included 31 contributing buildings, two contributing structures, and three non-contributing buildings. The historic district covers the town's central business district. State Center is located at the highest point in Marshall County, midway between Marshalltown and Nevada. The town was established by the Cedar Rapids & Missouri Railroad on 80 acres (32 ha) of land in 1863. It was initially named "Centre Station," but William Barnes, the first railroad agent, changed the town's name to "State Centre."

Star Milling and Electric Company Historic District, also known as Star Mill Falls and Star Gristmill, is a historic industrial complex and national historic district located in Lima Township, LaGrange County, Indiana. The district encompasses one contributing building, one contributing site, and two contributing structures. They are a small hydroelectric powerhouse (1929), two dams (1929), and the site of the original 1870 grist mill / hydroelectric generating plant. The old mill generated electric power from 1911 to 1929, and in 1930 the new powerhouse began operation.

The district includes 53 contributing buildings, 1 contributing site, and 1 contributing structure in the central business district of Pleasant Hill. It developed between about 1865 and 1959, and includes representative examples of Italianate, Queen Colonial Revival, and Classical Revival style architecture. Notable buildings include the Missouri Pacific Depot (1903), Sinclair Fuel and Service Station, Benson Brothers Lumber Company (1925), J. R. Prewitt & Sons Manufacturing, Inc., Knorpp's Opera House, Wherritt Building (1924), Booth Public Library (1948), Municipal Power Plant (1939), Pleasant Hill Post Office (1938), Tucker Inn (1911), Pleasant Hill City Hall (1959), and Memorial Building (1948).

Walter Klepzig Mill and Farm

Walter Klepzig Mill and Farm is a historic farm and sawmill and national historic district located in the Ozark National Scenic Riverways near Eminence, Shannon County, Missouri. The district encompasses three contributing buildings, three contributing sites, and one contributing structure associated with an early-20th century Ozark farm and mill. It developed between about 1912 and 1936 and includes the mill and its related hydraulic system ; a spring house and smokehouse ; foundations of a 1923 farmhouse and barn ; and two post-1934 chicken coops and a ruin of a post-1934 machine shed.

Prairie View Stock Farm

Prairie View Stock Farm, also known as the Bluestem Ranch, is a historic farm and national historic district located near Rich Hill in Bates County and Vernon County, Missouri. The district encompasses four contributing buildings, three contributing sites, and two contributing structures in a Rural Historic Landscape District. The contributing sites include a hay meadow, a tall fescue prairie, and a 160-acre plot of native, tall-grass prairie. It is a state designated Prairie View Natural Area. The contributing buildings are a transverse-crib barn/grain house, a barn/feeding facility, a two-story, frame, folk Victorian house (1893-1894), and a frame privy (1893-1894). The contributing structures are a storm cellar (1893-1894) and an arbor.

Boone Creek Rural Historic District, about 11 miles southeast of Lexington, Kentucky, is a 4,060 acres (16.4 km2) historic district which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1994. It included 88 contributing buildings, 55 contributing structures, and 25 contributing sites.

It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999. The listing included seven contributing buildings, two contributing structures, and three contributing sites.
