Miss Universe is an annual international beauty pageant that is run by the American-based Miss Universe Organization. It airs in more than 190 countries worldwide and seen by more than half a billion people annually. Along with Miss World, Miss International, and Miss Earth, Miss Universe is one of the Big Four international beauty pageants.
The Netherlands has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 59 times since making its debut as one of the seven countries at the first contest in 1956, and has missed only four contests so far. The Netherlands hosted the contest in 1958, 1970, 1976 and 1980.

Miss Universe 2008, the 57th Miss Universe pageant, was held on 14 July 2008 at the Crown Convention Center in Nha Trang, Vietnam. Dayana Mendoza of Venezuela was crowned by Riyo Mori of Japan as her successor at the end of the event. 80 contestants competed in this year which was broadcast and distributed globally via NBC in English and Telemundo in Spanish to TV outlets in more than 180 countries. The pageant was watched by a live audience of 7,500 and nearly a billion television viewers worldwide.

Sabrina Anijs is a model and a Dutch beauty queen. She was crowned as Miss Benelux 2009 in October 2008. She represented the Netherlands in the Miss Earth 2009 pageant, which was held between the 4th and 24 October 2009.

With auditions and pre-selections there are 12 delegates selected for the finals held at one of Londons most impressive theaters. With the support of TVBS-Europe, the finals of the Miss China United Kingdom Pageant will be broadcast worldwide.

Miss International 2013, the 53rd Miss International pageant, was held on December 17, 2013 at the Shinagawa Prince Hotel Hall in Tokyo, Japan. Bea Santiago of the Philippines was crowned as the Winner by Miss International 2008, Alejandra Andreu. This was the second year consecutive Japan hosted the Contest.

Miss International 2016, the 56th Miss International pageant, was held on October 27, 2016 at the Tokyo Dome City Hall in Tokyo, Japan. Edymar Martínez from Venezuela crowned her successor Kylie Verzosa from the Philippines at the end of the event. This is the first time in Miss International history the crowning of the runners-up was to see last year’s Top 5 winners.

Rahima Ayla Dirkse is a Dutch model and beauty pageant titleholder who won Miss Nederland 2018 on July 9, 2018. She will now represent the Netherlands at Miss Universe 2018 pageant but unplaced.
