The Chhattisgarh Gramin Bank [1] (CGB) is an Indian Regional Rural Bank (RRB) in Chhattisgarh established on 2 September 2013. [2] The bank was formed by the amalgamation of Chhattisgarh Gramin Bank, Surguja Kshetriya Gramin Bank and Durg Rajnandgaon Gramin Bank. It currently has 626 branches in rural areas of Chhattisgarh. According to Notification No. S.O. 4834(E), the Chhattisgarh Rajya Gramin Bank has been renamed as Chhattisgarh Gramin Bank. The change was made upon the request of the State Bank of India (SBI), which sponsors the Bank. [3]

History

Chhattisgarh Gramin Bank (CGB) is one of the prominent Regional rural banks in India. According to Notification F. No. 7/9/2011-RRB dated 02nd September 2013 issued by Govt. of India, Ministry of Finance, Department of Financial Services, the erstwhile Chhattisgarh Gramin Bank, Surguja Kshetriya Gramin Bank (SKGB) and Durg Rajnandgaon Gramin Bank (DRGB) were amalgamated into one entity called Chhattisgarh Rajya Gramin Bank (CRGB) , sponsored by State Bank of India, having its Head Office at Raipur, Chhattisgarh, was formed on 02–09–2013. CRGB operates in the entire state of Chhattisgarh and has its Corporate office at Naya Raipur , Atal Nagar, Chhattisgarh.

On October 23, 2025, Ministry of Finance, Government of India announce the renaming of several Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) to simplify their names and align them with their states. Changes includes Chhattisgarh Rajya Gramin Bank becoming Chhattisgarh Gramin Bank and several others being renamed after requests from their sponsor banks. Chhattisgarh Gramin Bank (2006-2013)

The Chhattisgarh Gramin Bank was a Regional Rural Bank (RRB) in Chhattisgarh, India, Established on June 30, 2006, through the amalgamation of Bilaspur-Raipur Kshetriya Gramin Bank, Bastar Kshetriya Gramin Bank and Raigarh Kshetriya Gramin Bank in terms of provisions of Regional Rural Banks Act 1976. The authorized share capital of the Bank was Rs. 500.00 Lakh. The paid up share capital was Rs. 300.00 Lakh, It was sponsored by the State Bank of India and jointly owned by the Government of India, the Government of Jharkhand, and the State Bank of India. The Bank is operating in 14 districts of Chhattisgarh State with its Head Office at Raipur (Capital of Chhattisgarh State). Total branch network of the bank as on 31.03.2011 reached 266 includes 217 rural, 27 semi-urban and 22 urban branches.

Surguja Kshetriya Gramin Bank

The Sarguja Kshetriya Gramin Bank was a RRB in Chhattisgarh established on October 24, 1979, under the provisions of Regional Rural Banks Act 1976. The authorized share capital of the Bank is Rs. 500.00 Lakh. The paid up share capital is Rs. 100.00 Lakhs. This bank was sponsored by the Central Bank of India. The shareholders of the Bank are Government of India (50%), Central Bank of India (35%) and Government of Chhattisgarh (15%). The Bank is operating in 2 districts of Chhattisgarh State with its Head Office at Ambikapur. Total branch network of the bank as on 31.03.2011 reached 90 includes 82 rural and 08 semi-urban branches

Durg Rajnandgaon Gramin Bank

The Durg Rajnandgaon Gramin Bank was a RRB in Chhattisgarh, established on March 12, 1980, under the provisions of Section 3 of the Regional Rural Banks Act, 1976 and in terms of the Extra Ordinary Gazette Notification No. F.1-1/80 RRBs (1) & (2) dated 12.03.1980 notified by the Government of India. The Bank is joint venture of Government of India, Government of Chhattisgarh and Dena Bank which is sponsor bank also. The Bank is a Scheduled Bank being included in second schedule in terms of the RBI Notification No. RPCD No. 176/INCL/311-80 dated 12.03.1980. Total branch network of the bank as on 31.03.2011 reached 112 includes 99 rural, 08 semi-urban and 05 urban branches. The headquarter of the Bank was at Rajnandgaon.

The Regional Rural Bank logo selection process involved a public poll conducted by NABARD in June 2025 to choose a new, common logo for the amalgamated Regional Rural Banks in India, the initiative aimed at creating a unified brand identity for rural banking after the amalgamation of several RRBs. the poll allowed participants to vote on six logo concepts and nine design variations. The initiative was called OneRRBOneLogo reflecting the vision of having a single identity for the RRBs.
