Middlesbrough is a town in North Yorkshire,England. The town lies near the mouth of the River Tees,forming part of the Teesside built-up area,and is located north of the North York Moors National Park. The wider Borough of Middlesbrough had a population 148,215 at the 2021 UK census. Middlesbrough is the largest town of the wider urban Tees Valley area,which had a population of 678,400 in 2021.

The North East of England Process Industry Cluster (NEPIC) is an economic cluster developed in accordance with Michael Porter's theories and strategies regarding industrial clusters. The chemistry-using sectors in North East England,where more than 1,400 businesses are headquartered in the industry's supply chain,formed this Process Industry Cluster. In the north-east of England,the industry employs approximately 35,000 direct workers and around 190,000 indirect workers,who collectively account for more than one-third of the area's industrial economy. Companies in the cluster produce 35% of the pharmaceuticals and 50% of the petrochemicals used in the UK,making this area the only net exporter of goods from the country. The area has more than £13 billion in exports.

Ben Houchen,Baron Houchen of High Leven,is a British Conservative politician and life peer. He has been Tees Valley Mayor since 2017,winning the inaugural mayoral election in the combined authority. Houchen was re-elected in 2021 and won a third term in 2024.
The 2021 Tees Valley mayoral election was held on 6 May 2021 to elect the Tees Valley Mayor on the same day as other local elections across the country. The mayor was elected by the supplementary vote. The election was originally due to take place in May 2020,but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Jacob Young was a British Conservative Party politician and served as Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Levelling Up from 18 September 2023,until losing his seat in July 2024. He previously served as Assistant Government Whip between September 2022 and September 2023. He was elected as MP for Redcar at the 2019 general election. He was the first Conservative MP to represent the constituency.
Matthew Alexander Vickers is a British politician who served as the member of Parliament (MP) for Stockton South from 12 December 2019 to 30 May 2024,and as Deputy Chairman of the Conservative Party since July 2022. In the 2024 United Kingdom general election,he was elected in Stockton West as the only Conservative in the whole of the North East of England.
The 2023 Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council election took place on 4 May 2023 to elect all 56 members of Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council,a unitary authority which straddles the ceremonial counties of County Durham and North Yorkshire in England. This was on the same day as other local elections across England.
Teesside Beam Mill (TBM) is a steel reheating and rolling plant located at Lackenby,on Teesside,North Yorkshire,England. The plant was set up in the 1950s by the Dorman Long company and began full production in 1958,making beams for building projects. The plant produces around 750,000 tonnes of steel products per year,and is the United Kingdom's only producer of large steel sections for the building industry.
The 2024 Tees Valley mayoral election was held on 2 May 2024 to elect the mayor of the Tees Valley,part of the 2024 United Kingdom local elections. The Conservative incumbent mayor and member of the House of Lords,Ben Houchen,was re-elected with 53.6% of the vote.
