Jayne Susannah Kirkham [1] is a British Labour and Co-operative Party politician who has served as the Member of Parliament for Truro and Falmouth since 2024. [2] [3] She unseated the Conservative incumbent Cherilyn Mackrory. [4] She contested the same seat in 2017,tripling the Labour vote and was narrowly defeated by the Conservative candidate Sarah Newton. [5] Previously,Kirkham was the Labour group leader on Cornwall Council and represented Falmouth Penwerris ward. [6]
Kirkham graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Southampton in 1994. She then studied at the University of Law. [7]
Candice Kathleen Atherton was a British Labour politician and journalist. After serving as a councillor in Islington,where she was mayor,she was Member of Parliament (MP) for Falmouth and Camborne from 1997 to 2005. In her later life she lived in Cornwall and was a member of Cornwall Council.
