Alexandra Baker (born 1982 or 1983) [1] [2] is a British Labour Party politician serving as Member of Parliament (MP) for Aldershot since 2024.
Baker received a Bachelor of Arts in Technology and History of Art from the University of Birmingham in 2006.
She began her career as a political officer for the Co-operative Party,and subsequently worked as a Co-operative Group membership officer. [3] Baker worked in several roles on the Battersea Power Station regeneration prior to her election to Parliament. [4]
Baker was elected as the MP for Aldershot at the 2024 general election,defeating her Conservative predecessor Leo Docherty. [5] She became the first non-Conservative to represent the constituency since its establishment in 1918,as well as its first ever female MP. [6] [4] On 9 October 2024,she made her maiden speech in the House of Commons during a debate on the Renters' Rights Bill. [7]
Baker has two children. [4]
Baker's husband is Jason Keen,Special Advisor to Sir Keir Starmer,former Private Secretary to Prince Edward,Earl of Wessex,and former BBC senior political affairs advisor. [8]
