Eduardo Abaroa, also Eduardo Avaroa, or Challapata [2] is a province in the southeastern parts of the Bolivian department of Oruro. Its seat is Challapata. The province was named after Colonel Eduardo Abaroa, Bolivia's hero of the War of the Pacific.
Eduardo Abaroa province is one of sixteen provinces in the Oruro Department. It is located between 18° 39' and 19° 30' South and between 65° 42' and 66° 42' West.
The province borders Poopó Province in the northwest, Sud Carangas Province and Ladislao Cabrera Province in the west, and Potosí Department in the south and east. Furthermore, Sebastián Pagador Province is embedded between the two municipios of Eduardo Abaroa province.
The province extends over 90 km from north to south, and 100 km from east to west.
The province lies at Poopó Lake, one of the largest lakes of Bolivia.

The main language spoken in the province is Spanish, spoken by 78.3%, while 71.9% of the population speak Quechua and 23.0% Aymara.
The population increased from 23,147 inhabitants (1992 census) to 27,675 (2001 census), an increase of 19.6%. - 44.1% of the population are younger than 15 years old.
82% of the population have no access to electricity, 94% have no sanitary facilities.
68.9% of the population are employed in agriculture, 0.5% in mining, 6.9% in industry, 23.7% in general services (2001).
86.6% of the population are Catholics, 11.9% are Protestants (1992).
The province comprises two municipalities which are further subdivided into cantons.

Tapacarí is a province in the Cochabamba Department, Bolivia. Its capital is Tapacarí. The province is located at a turnoff from the major highway that links Cochabamba and Oruro. It has traditionally been amongst the poorest in the department. Tapacarí Province and neighboring Arque Province are the two poorest of the 16 provinces that make up the department of Cochabamba.

Turco Municipality is the second municipal section of the Sajama Province in the Oruro Department in Bolivia, and was founded on February 15, 1957. Its seat is Turco, situated 154 km west of Oruro at an altitude of 3,860 m. The municipality covers an area of 3,973 km², not taking into account the area of Laca Laca Canton.
Colquiri Municipality is the fourth municipal section of the Inquisivi Province in the La Paz Department, Bolivia. Its seat is Colquiri.
Challapata is the capital of the Eduardo Abaroa Province as well as of the Challapata Municipality in the Oruro Department in Bolivia. It lies at an altitude of 3,738 m above sea level on the edge of the 250-acre (1.0 km2) flood plain of the river on the east bank of the Tacagua Poopó Lake. Challapata is located half way of the road and railway connection from Oruro to Potosí, about 130 kilometers from both cities. Directly southeast of the city rises the Cerro Azanaques, with 5102 m the highest peak in the Azanaques Mountain Range (Cordillera de Azanaques).
Wila Qullu is a mountain in the Andes in Bolivia, about 5,144 metres (16,877 ft) high. It is located in the Oruro Department, Challapata Province, Challapata Municipality. Wila Qullu is situated south of Jach'a River and north of Nacional Route 1. It lies north-west of the mountain Wila Quta which reaches the same height.
Jatun Wila Qullu is a mountain in the Andes in Bolivia, about 5,214 m (17,106 ft) high. It is located south east of Poopó Lake in the Oruro Department, Challapata Province, Quillacas Municipality, Soraga Canton, east of Sevaruyo and near the border to the Potosí Department.
