Felix Yongbok Lee (born 15 September 2000), known mononymously as Felix, is an Australian rapper and singer based in South Korea. He is a member of the South Korean boy band Stray Kids, formed by JYP Entertainment, in 2017. [2]

Early life

Felix Yongbok Lee was born on 15 September 2000 in Seven Hills in Sydney, Australia to Korean immigrant parents. [3] He has two sisters, one older and one younger, named Rachael and Olivia. [4] Before moving to South Korea to become a singer, Lee practiced taekwondo for twelve years as a child and has won a total of 63 medals. [5] He studied at St Patrick's Marist College in Sydney and began his training at JYP Entertainment at age 16. [6]

Career

2017–present: Pre-debut, Stray Kids and solo activities

Lee began as a trainee at JYP Entertainment in February 2017. He was personally chosen by Stray Kids' leader, Bang Chan, making him the sixth member of the band to be selected. [7] Lee continued to train with Stray Kids until the broadcast of the survival show, also titled Stray Kids . [8] During this show, he faced elimination in the eighth episode, decided by Park Jin-young, the founder of JYP Entertainment. However, following careful consideration and a fan vote, Lee was reinstated in the group in the following episode. [7] Stray Kids then released their pre-debut EP Mixtape , before making their official debut with the EP I Am Not on 25 March 2018. [9]

Individually, he was the host of the music program Pops in Seoul from July 2019 to January 2020. [10] In June 2022, Lee featured on his labelmate Nayeon's "No Problem" from her debut EP Im Nayeon . [11] His first solo song "Deep End" was included on Stray Kids' compilation album SKZ-Replay in December 2022, and during the group's 5-Star Dome Tour in 2023, he first performed his unreleased song "Rev It Up". [12] [13] Lee made a cameo appearance in the music video for his labelmate NiziU's South Korean debut single "Heartris" in October 2023. [14]

In August 2023, he was selected to be a house ambassador for Louis Vuitton [15] and in November 2023, he was named one of GQ Korea 's Men of the Year, and featured on the cover of the magazine's December issue. [16] [17] Lee made his runway debut at Paris Fashion Week for Louis Vuitton Women's Fall-Winter 2024 Collection at Cour Carrée on 5 March 2024. [18]

Philanthropy

Lee began consistent donations and sponsorship for the international children's rights organization Save the Children, in 2020. His contributions made him appointed as a member of the honors club. [19] He also donated ₩50 million (equivalent to $38,500 in 2023) to aid the relief efforts following the earthquake in Turkey and Syria on 6 February. [20] In January 2024, Lee donated ₩100 million (equivalent to $76,100 in 2024) to the Korean Committee for UNICEF for helping Laos children who are living in poor sanitation and nutritional environments, making him become the youngest member of the UNICEF Honors Club. [21]

Personal life

In February 2022, Lee was diagnosed with intervertebral disk herniation, which has limited his participation in performances before. [22]

Marketed as a "holiday special single", it consists of four tracks, including the dual lead singles "Christmas EveL", and "Winter Falls", with a theme of "Christmas naughty boy" and a Christmas, hip hop, and pop sound. Commercially, the single album debuted atop the Gaon Album Chart, was certified triple platinum by Korea Music Content Association (KMCA), selling 750,000 copies, and was nominated for Album of the Year – 4th Quarter at the 11th Gaon Chart Music Awards.

"Winter Falls" is a song recorded by South Korean boy band Stray Kids. It was released simultaneously with the "holiday special single" album Christmas EveL as a lead single, alongside the title track on November 29, 2021, through JYP Entertainment and distributed by Dreamus. Oddinary is the sixth extended play and ninth overall recorded by South Korean boy band Stray Kids. It was released on March 18, 2022, through JYP Entertainment and Republic Records, seven months after the band's second studio album Noeasy (2021). The EP is Stray Kids' first release on Republic Records, which they signed in February 2022. A blend of "odd" and "ordinary", Oddinary represents "all of us who have something odd about ourselves" and the concept "odd things will soon become ordinary".

"Maniac" is a song recorded by the South Korean boy band Stray Kids. It was the second track released from their sixth Korean extended play (EP), Oddinary, and was its lead single on March 18, 2022, through JYP Entertainment and Republic Records. Written by Stray Kids' in-house production team 3Racha and Versachoi, "Maniac" is a trap, electropop song about "odd" people who break the "ordinary" social norms set by the world, referring to Frankenstein's monster.

The Maniac World Tour, officially Stray Kids 2nd World Tour "Maniac", was the second concert tour by South Korean boy band Stray Kids in support of their 2022 extended plays Oddinary, Circus and Maxident and 2023 album The Sound. The group played 42 shows across Asia, North America, and Australia. The tour began at Jamsil Arena in Seoul on April 29, 2022, and concluded at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles on April 2, 2023. It was the group's first in-person concert tour since District 9: Unlock (2019–2020).

A portmanteau of "max" or "maximum" and "incident" or "accident", the EP saw the band take on a "love" concept for the first time. Written by 3Racha, Raphael of Producing Lab, and Daviid and Yosia of 3scape, "Case 143" is an electrohop and pop track, likening the confusion one feels when falling in love to an unsolved "case", referencing the number 143, a code for "I love you".
