As per orders of the Delimitation Commission, No. 58 Jangipur (Vidhan Sabha constituency) covers Jangipur municipality, Raghunathganj I community development block and Ahiran and Bansabati gram panchayats of Suti I community development block. [10]

Contests in most years were multi-cornered but only winners and runners are being mentioned. Habibur Rahman of Congress defeated Abdul Haque of RSP in 1996.
