The area is located to the immediate north of the River Mithi, which separates Bandra from the Mumbai City district. It is the third-largest commercial hub in Maharashtra, after the Bombay city district and Pune, primarily aided by the Bandra-Kurla Complex.

Mahim is an ethnically and religiously diverse town and has a Hindu temple, church, mosque and Parsi fire-temple existing within a few meters of each other. Salsette Island is an island in Konkan division of the state of Maharashtra, on India's west coast. Administratively known as Greater Mumbai, the city district of Mumbai, Mumbai Suburban district, Mira Bhayander, and a portion of Thane lie within it, making it very populous and one of the most densely populated islands in the world. It has a population of more than 20 million inhabitants living on an area of about 619 square kilometres (239 sq mi).
Govandi is a suburb in eastern Mumbai, Maharashtra. It is near to Chembur, Mankhurd and Vashi. The west is Deonar, 400043 in Govandi whereas East is Deonar, 400088 in Chembur The main public modes of transport are auto-rickshaws, taxi and bus. The closest railway station is Govandi railway station which is on the Harbour Line of the Mumbai Suburban Railway. With Eastern Freeway and construction of Chembur Mankhurd link road, this and its surrounding area are becoming easier to commute.

The Bandra Kurla Complex is a business and residential district in the city of Mumbai, India. It is a prominent upscale commercial hub which commands some of the highest property rates in the country. According to MMRDA, the complex is the first of a series of "growth centres" created to "arrest further concentration" of offices and commercial activities in eastern parts of Mumbai. It has aided to decongest the CBD in South Mumbai while seeding new areas of planned commercial real estate in the metropolitan region.
Mahim Bay is a bay, part of the Arabian Sea in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. The southern end is Worli, northern end is Bandra Reclamation and Mahim is in the centre. The bay was named after the islands of Mahim and Salsette were merged in the early 19th century. The Mithi River drains into Mahim Creek which drains into the Bay, and forms the border between the Mumbai city and its Suburbs.
The Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Park Residential Zone is a precinct consisting of 187 residential buildings that were built as part of the Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Park scheme in Dadar, Mumbai. The Western Railway Elevated Corridor, also known as the Oval Maidan-Virar elevated corridor, was a proposed rapid transit corridor that would have run along the same alignment as the Western Line of the Mumbai Suburban Railway, and link Oval Maidan with Virar.
Station Area Traffic Improvement Scheme (SATIS) is a World Bank funded station area traffic improvement project. It is implemented by Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) and Thane Municipal Corporation. This project is executed under Mumbai Urban Transport Project road component. The project aims at easing commuter and pedestrian movement by building skywalks, foot over bridges, separate parking areas for auto-rickshaws and taxis at four crowded suburban railway stations Borivali, Dadar, Chembur and Ghatkopar implement by MMRDA and Thane SATIS is implemented by Thane Municipal Corporation. On 22nd October 2022, MMRDA announced new SATIS implementation at Ambernath railway station.
Kannamwar Nagar is a locality situated in Vikhroli east, on eastern express highway. Kannamwar Nagar is on the eastern side of the Vikhroli railway station and is known for buildings built by MHADA. It is considered as one of the biggest housing colonies in India and one of the biggest workers housing colonies in Asia.

The Western Suburbs is the western precinct of the city of Mumbai, India. The Western Suburbs consist of Andheri, Bandra, Bhayander, Borivali, Dahisar, Goregaon, Jogeshwari, Juhu, Kandivali, Khar, Malad, Mira Road, Santacruz and Vile Parle. Geographically, the Western Suburbs lie at the western part of Salsette Island, is a continuous urban sprawl spanning the areas from Bandra to Bhayander, which is separated by the Vasai Creek from Vasai-Virar city and Mithi River from Mumbai city district.
