    Sailing at the 1900 Summer Olympics Sailing at the Olympics

    Sailing/Yachting made its first appearance as an Olympic sport at the 1900 Summer Olympics after competitions were cancelled at the 1896 Olympics. With the exception of 1904, sailing was thereafter always a part of the Olympic program. The sailing program in 1900 consisted of a total of eight sailing classes. For six classes, the races were scheduled from 20 – 27 May at the river Seine around Meulan, and a series of three races was held for the largest classes from 1–5 August on the North Atlantic off the coast of Le Havre. Approximately 150 sailors in 64 boats from 6 nations competed, including 1 woman, Hélène de Pourtalès, who won a gold medal in the 1 to 2 ton.

    Gal Fridman Israeli windsurfer (born 1975)

    Gal Fridman is an Israeli windsurfer and Israel's only Olympic gold medalist. Fridman won a Bronze Medal in the Atlanta 1996 Summer Olympics, and his gold medal in the Athens 2004 Summer Olympics. He is the only Israeli athlete to win two Olympic Medals, and the first Olympic Gold medalist in Israeli history. His first name, Gal, means "wave" in Hebrew.

    Sailing has been one of the Olympic sports since the Games of the I Olympiad, held in Athens, Greece, in 1896. Despite being scheduled in the first Olympic program, the races were canceled due to severe weather conditions. Apart from the 1904 Summer Olympics, sailing has been present in every edition of the Olympic Games.

    Marina Alabau Neira is a Spanish sailor. She has won a gold medal, one silver medal in 2006 and two bronze medals at the Windsurfing World Championships. She also won five gold medals at the European Championships. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, she won the gold medal in the RS:X competition.

    Sailing/Yachting is an Olympic sport starting from the Games of the 1st Olympiad. With the exception of 1904 and the canceled 1916 Summer Olympics, sailing has always been included on the Olympic schedule. The sailing program of 1976 consisted of six sailing classes (disciplines). For each class, seven races were scheduled from 19 July 1976 to 27 July 1976 off the coast of Kingston, Ontario, on Lake Ontario. The sailing was done on the triangular-type Olympic courses.

    The 6 Metre was a sailing event on the Sailing at the 1952 Summer Olympics program in Harmaja. Seven races were scheduled. 56 sailors, on 11 boats, from 11 nations competed.

    Thor Thorvaldsen was a Norwegian sailor and Olympic champion. He was born in Bamble and died in Bærum. He competed at the 1948 Summer Olympics in London, where he received a gold medal in the dragon class as helmsman on the boat Pan.

    George Shelby Friedrichs Jr., known as "Buddy", was an American sailor and Olympic champion. He was Dragon Class World Champion in 1967 before competing at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City (sailing events in Acapulco, where he received a gold medal in the Dragon class as helmsman on the red-painted boat WILLIWAW. Serving as crew members on WILLIWAW were Gerald "Click" Schreck and Barton Jahncke.

    Gerald Click "Click" Schreck is an American sailor and Olympic champion. He competed at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City, where he received a gold medal in the dragon class as crew member on the boat Williwa.

    John Shaw is an Australian sailor and Olympic champion. He competed at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, where he received a gold medal in the dragon class, together with crew members John Cuneo and Thomas Anderson.

    Lowell Orton North was an American sailor and Olympic Gold Medalist. He competed at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City, where he received a gold medal in the Star class with the boat North Star, together with Peter Barrett.

    Shahar Tzuberi Israeli windsurfer

    Shahar Tzuberi is an Israeli windsurfer and Olympic bronze medalist, surfing in the "Neil Pryde" RS:X discipline. He is a nephew of Gad Tsobari, the 1972 Olympic wrestler who escaped from Arab terrorists during the Munich massacre. He is a three-time Olympian.

    Mathew "Mat" Belcher is an Australian Olympic Gold Medalist in the 470 dinghy and currently competes with crew Will Ryan. In 2011, following World Championship and World Cup success he and Malcolm Page were shortlisted by the International Sailing Federation for the ISAF World Sailor of the Year Awards.

    Támara Echegoyen Spanish sailor

    Támara Echegoyen Domínguez is a Spanish sailor. She participated at the 2012 Summer Olympics in Elliott 6m class, and together with her crew, gasts Ángela Pumariega and Sofía Toro, won the gold medal. In 2017-18, she was a crewmember on Mapfre on legs 1, 2, 3 in the Volvo Ocean Race.
