There are many institutions, academies and fellowships in the Philippines that hands out awards, citations and recognitions to outstanding film achievements for a certain calendar year.
Frederick Charles Caballes Davao, professionally known as Ricky Davao, is a Filipino actor, television director and industrial management engineer. He is the ex-husband of actress Jackie Lou Blanco. He is the younger brother of Bing Davao and the son of Charlie Davao.
Romeo "John" Gonzales-Arcilla is the first Filipino actor and first Southeast Asian actor to win the Volpi Cup for Best Actor award at the Venice International Film Festival for his performance in On the Job: The Missing 8, which also earned him Best Actor at the Gawad Urian Awards. Other roles he is recognized for include Antonio Luna in the historical drama film Heneral Luna, Hagorn in the fantasy drama television series Encantadia, Renato Hipolito in the action drama television series FPJ's Ang Probinsyano, Carlos Fiero in the drama revenge television series Dirty Linen, and President Eleazar Sagrado in the drama thriller television series Pamilya Sagrado.
Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino, abbreviated as PPP, is a film festival held in the Philippines in celebration of the Buwan ng Wika. It is organized by the Film Development Council of the Philippines. Similar to the Metro Manila Film Festival, only shortlisted films will be shown in cinemas except in select 3D cinemas, VIP cinemas and IMAX theaters.

Ari: My Life with a King is a 2015 Philippine independent film by Carlo Encisco Catu about a Kapampangan high school student learning about his native language from a Kapampangan-language poet.
Cleaners is a 2019 Philippine experimental adult animated coming-of-age comedy-drama film written and directed by Glenn Barit in his directorial debut. The film follows a group of high school students assigned as end-of-day classroom cleaners and their experiences surrounding various school activities during the 2007-2008 Philippine academic year in Tuguegarao, Cagayan.
The Gawad Urian Lifetime Achievement Award is an honorary award instituted in 1977 that is presented annually by the Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino to "movie actors, directors, writers, cameramen, musicians, technicians and cosmetic artists whose lifework can be held up as a standard of excellence for all."
Zig Madamba Dulay is a Filipino independent filmmaker, TV director, producer, screen writer, film editor and cinematographer. He is known for directing and writing several acclaimed Indie films such as The Bit Player, Black Rainbow, Missing, Bambanti and Bagahe. Dulay has directed and written several television series for GMA Network, where he serves as one of the head-writers and resident director. He has gained nationwide recognition after directing a fantasy drama series Maria Clara at Ibarra and the award-winning movies Firefly and Green Bones.
