ABS-CBN Corporation is a Filipino media company based in Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines. It is the largest entertainment television and film production, program syndication provider, film distributor and media conglomerate in the Philippines. It is a subsidiary of Lopez Holdings Corporation, which is owned by the López family. ABS-CBN was formed by the merger of Alto Broadcasting System (ABS) and Chronicle Broadcasting Network (CBN). The conglomerate is metonymically called as "Ignacia" due to the location of its headquarters ABS-CBN Broadcasting Center along Mother Ignacia Street in Quezon City.
ABS-CBN was a Philippine commercial broadcast network that served as the flagship property of the ABS-CBN Corporation, a company under the Lopez Holdings Corporation. The network was headquartered at the ABS-CBN Broadcasting Center in Quezon City, that had additional offices and production facilities in 25 major cities including Baguio, Naga, Bacolod, Iloilo, Cebu, Davao, and Bulacan, where ABS-CBN's production and post-production facility in Horizon IT Park is located. ABS-CBN was colloquially referred to as the Kapamilya Network; its brand was originally introduced in 1999 and was officially introduced in 2003 during the celebration of its 50th anniversary, and was used until it was forced by the National Telecommunications Commission to cease and desist from free-to-air broadcasting due to the lack of congressional franchise. ABS-CBN is the largest media company in the Philippines and is the oldest television broadcaster in Southeast Asia. María Rosario Navarro "Charo" Santos-Concio is a Filipino actress. and former media executive She is the host of Maalaala Mo Kaya, the longest-running television drama anthology in Asia. From 2012 to 2016, she was the chief executive officer of ABS-CBN Corporation, the largest entertainment and media conglomerate in the Philippines. She is chief content officer and president of ABS-CBN University. Santos-Concio plays a role in TV and film production in the Philippines.
Jose Marie Borja Viceral, known professionally as Vice Ganda, is a Filipino comedian, actor, host, singer and television personality. He is considered one of the most successful entertainers in Philippine show business, noted for his stand-up routines, usage of observational comedy, situational irony and sarcasm in pertaining to Filipino culture and human sexuality. By April 2016, the channel was rebranded as KBO.
Darna is a Philippine television drama superhero action fantasy series that aired on Kapamilya Channel. The series is based from Mars Ravelo's fictional Philippine superheroine of the same title. Directed by Chito S. Roño, Avel E. Sunpongco, Benedict Mique and Darnel Joy R. Villaflor, it stars Jane de Leon in the title role. It aired on the network's Primetime Bida line-up and worldwide on TFC from August 15, 2022 to February 10, 2023, replacing FPJ's Ang Probinsyano and was replaced by FPJ's Batang Quiapo.
