This is a list of ambassadors to Montenegro . Note that some ambassadors are responsible for more than one country while others are directly accredited to Podgorica.
A letter of credence is a formal diplomatic letter that designates a diplomat as ambassador to another sovereign state. Commonly known as diplomatic credentials, the letter is addressed from one head of state to another, asking them to give credence to the ambassador's claim of speaking for their country. The letter is presented personally by the ambassador-designate to the receiving head of state in a formal ceremony, marking the beginning of the ambassadorship.
The president of Montenegro is the head of state of Montenegro. The current president is Milo Đukanović, who was elected in the first round of the 2018 presidential election with 53.90% of the vote. The official residence of the president is the Blue Palace in Cetinje.
In a referendum on 21 May 2006, the people of Montenegro opted to leave the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro. This result was confirmed with a declaration of independence by the Montenegrin parliament on 3 June 2006. It simultaneously requested international recognition and outlined foreign policy goals.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia is the ministry in the government of Serbia which is in the charge of maintaining the consular affairs and foreign relations of Serbia. The current minister is Nikola Selaković, in office since October 28, 2020.
Mexico–Serbia relations refers to the diplomatic relations between Mexico and Serbia. Both nations were founding members of the Group of 77 and the United Nations.
The Embassy of Montenegro in Washington, D.C. is the diplomatic mission of Montenegro to the United States. The embassy is located at 1610 New Hampshire Avenue, Northwest, Washington, D.C. The embassy is also accredited on a non-resident basis to Canada and Mexico.
The Embassy of Moldova in Bucharest is the diplomatic mission of Moldova to Romania. The embassy provides consular services to Moldova citizens residing or travelling in Romania, Serbia and Montenegro.
The Montenegrin Embassy in Vienna is Montenegro's diplomatic mission to Austria. It is located at Lothirngerstrasse 16.
The diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Montenegro established in 2008 after Azerbaijan recognized the independence of Montenegro. Azerbaijan has a Diplomatic Office in Podgorica. Montenegro has an embassy in Baku.
