List of islands of Hainan

There are many islands directly off the coast of Hainan Island, the southernmost province in China. This article lists them. There are also groups of disputed islands located hundreds of kilometres away that are within Hainan, the administrative area, but not actually part of Hainan, the province. Those islands are not within the scope of this article.

It is the earliest development of an open uninhabited tourist type area. In 2008 it became a national 4A level scenic spot, and in 2013 was promoted to national 5A-class tourist attraction, becoming China's first. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5]

Dazhou Island Dazhou Island - map 01.jpg Commonly known as Grand Island, this is a state-level nature reserve located about 5 km (3.1 mi) off the coast of Wanning, Hainan, China. This protected area covers 4.36 square kilometres, and comprises three mountains spanning two islands. The islands are composed of mainly rain forests and rocky terrain.

Fenjiezhou Fenjiezhou in Lingshui.jpg Sea turtles are known to lay eggs on this island, which is off the coast of Lingshui. [6] [7]

Haidian Island Haidian Island west side cityscape 01.jpg This is a well-developed and heavily populated island that is part of the city of Haikou. It is located over the Haidian River and directly to the east of Xinbu Island.

Huludao Island Unidentified artificial island from Binhai Road - 01.jpg Located a few hundred metres from Evergreen Park (Haikou), this peanut-shaped island was demolished in 2021 after lasting for 11 years.
Nanwan Monkey Island Nanwan Monkey Island 02.jpg Actually a peninsula, but commonly considered to be an island, this body of land is a monkey nature reserve and tourist attraction.

Phoenix Island Phoenix Island, Sanya Bay - 02.jpg This is an artificial archipelago forming an island resort currently under construction in Sanya, Hainan Province, China. [9] [10] [11]

The island is located in Sanya Bay, and is 1,250 metres (4,100 ft) long by 350 metres (1,150 ft) wide and covers a total area of 393,825 square metres (4,239,100 sq ft). [12] It is connected the shore by a 395-metre bridge.

The Hainan eastern ring high-speed railway is a high-speed railway on Hainan Island. It is operated by China Railway Guangzhou Group. Opened in December 2010, the railway links the capital Haikou at the northern end of the province, and goes alongside the eastern coastline to reach the resort city of Sanya in the southernmost region of the island. The railway share the end points with the Hainan western ring high-speed railway, which together creates a closed loop spanning 653 kms, as well as the world’s first circular high-speed railway, and allows passengers to travel around Hainan island in about 3 hours.

Nanhai Pearl Artificial Island is an artificial island under construction off the coast of Holiday Beach in Haikou Bay, Haikou, Hainan, China. The island is owned and being developed by HNA Group. As of April 2016, it consists of a roughly circular body of land with a bridge providing access to and from the shore. It is envisioned to ultimately become a visitor attraction with hotels and to eventually take the shape of a yin-yang symbol and be about 266 hectares.

Ocean Flower Island, or Haihua Island, is an under-construction, artificial archipelago located off the north coast of Danzhou, Hainan, China, west of the Yangpu Peninsula. The project, being built by the Evergrande Group, will consist of three independent islets with a total area of 381 hectares. The project has received an investment of 160 billion RMB and was scheduled for completion in 2020. During the 2021 National Day, the island attracted over 200,000 visitors.
