Louise Elizabeth Jones is a British Labour Party politician who has been the Member of Parliament for North East Derbyshire since 2024. She gained the seat from Lee Rowley,a Conservative. [1]
Jones studied Chinese at the University of Edinburgh [2]
She is a former Army intelligence officer and a veteran of the War in Afghanistan. [3] In July 2021,she joined McKenzie Intelligence Services as Head of Intelligence. [4] Jones' worked as a senior manager at McKenzie,an "Insurtech analysing the impact of natural disasters". [5]
She served as a councillor for the Loughborough East ward on Charnwood Borough Council,resigning from this role in March 2024 after she was selected as the prospective parliamentary candidate for North East Derbyshire. [6]
Jones and fellow newly elected Labour MP Jeevun Sandher announced their engagement,shortly after his proposal on 1 December 2024. [7] She met the new Loughborough MP in January 2023 when they were both still on the campaign trail.
