MTV Nordic was a pan-European cable television network launched on 5 June 1998. A 24-hour English-language network aimed at viewers in the Nordic countries and other European territories. Between 1998 and 2006 MTV Nordic served the majority of European territories under the branding MTV Europe & Nordic. First Baltic channel was a Baltic pay television channel based on the largest Russian Channel One to broadcast its programs in the Baltic states. It was launched on 4 September 2002. The channel had also broadcast the local news programme Latvian time since June 2003. The channel was closed in Latvia on 26 October 2021 due to misinformation about COVID-19 and two other violations. Following the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, its license was revoked and the channel was effectively banned in all three Baltic States.
Baltic Robinson 2000, was the first version of Expedition Robinson, or Survivor to air in the Baltic region of Europe. 15 contestants faced off against each in three teams of five representing their nation trying to survive and win immunity and avoid tribal council. Due to the nature of the season, each tribe (country) had to have at least one representative be a part of the final three and reach the final tribal council. The season notably wasn't filmed in a tropical location but filmed on the unhabitated island of Kõrgelaid in Estonia.
