MTV Pakistan was the Pakistani subsidiary of MTV, a cable television network owned by Viacom. The Pakistan franchise was set up in collaboration with Pakistan's first satellite channel media group known as Indus Media Group (Indus TV). Indus TV was Pakistan's second private television broadcaster after STN.

Programming

MTV Pakistan combined local and international music and was the only music channel with global and local programs. The channel broadcast Pakistani shows such as MTV Basanti, Most Wanted, MTV Select, Bheja Fry, Love Lockdown, Love Stories, Top Ten World Music , MTV Classics, MTV Requested, MTV News, MTV VJ Hunt, Groove and Classics. International shows included MTV Unplugged , MTV Roadies , Stunt Mania.

MTV Pakistan provided upcoming and talented Pakistani artists with an opportunity to get global recognition. [2]

MTV Pakistan was rebranded as Indus Music in October 2011 due to the expiration of the franchise agreement with Viacom.

MTV Pakistan came back on air on 23 October 2011 when Indus returned to franchise agreement with Viacom. But after a short period of time, it was shut down for unpopularity.

Pakistani popular music or shortly Pak-pop music refers to popular music forms in Pakistan. Pakistani pop is a mixture of traditional Pakistani classical music and western influences of jazz, rock and roll, hip hop and disco sung in various languages of Pakistan, including Urdu. The popularity of music is based on the individual sales of a single, viewership of its music video or the singer's album chart positions. Apart from within Pakistan, Pakistani pop music has also achieved an influential following and popularity in neighboring countries and is listened by members of the Pakistani diaspora, especially in the Middle East, Europe and North America.

Naveen Waqar is a Pakistani television actress and former video and radio jockey. She made her acting debut playing the antagonist Sara in 2012 series Humsafar. Her television appearances include a series of acclaimed projects including Annie Ki Ayegi Baraat, Alvida, Mol, Saya-e-Deewar Bhi Nahi, Kuch Na Kaho, Be Inteha, Tajdeed-e-Wafa and Mah-e-Tamaam. She made her film debut in 2013 with social-drama film Josh: Independence Through Unity, which was a critical and commercial success.

Strings was a Pakistani pop/rock band composed of two members, plus four live band members from Karachi, Pakistan. In 1992 the quartet disbanded, only to make a comeback with Maqsood and Kapadia in 2000. Humsafar is a 2011 Pakistani drama telenovel based on the novel of the same name by Farhat Ishtiaq and directed by Sarmad Sultan Khoosat. It stars Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan, Naveen Waqar in lead roles and Atiqa Odho, Hina Khawaja Bayat, Behroze Sabzwari and Noor Hassan Rizvi in supporting roles. The series was first broadcast on 24 September 2011 on Hum TV.

Shehr-e-Zaat is a 2012 Pakistani spiritual romantic drama serial based on the novella of the same name by Umera Ahmad. It is directed by Sarmad Sultan Khoosat, and produced by Momina Duraid and Abdullah Kadwani. It stars Mahira Khan, Mikaal Zulfiqar and Mohib Mirza in the leads.

The 1st Servis Hum Awards Ceremony, presented by the Hum Television Network and Entertainment Channel (HTNEC) honour the best dramas of 2012 of Hum and to honour achievement in Fashion and Music. The ceremony took place on 12 March, 2013, at the Expo Center in Karachi and was televised on 28 April 2013. During the ceremony, the Hum Channel presented Awards in 24 regular categories along with in 3 honorary and in 2 special categories. The ceremony was televised in Pakistan by Hum TV.

<i>Parey Hut Love</i> 2019 film by Asim Raza

Parey Hut Love is a 2019 Pakistani romantic comedy film, directed by Asim Raza. Written by Imran Aslam, the story revolves around a young free-willed, commitment-phobic, aspiring actor Sheheryar and a strong-willed girl, Saniya and their romance as they meet and fall in love over a series of unplanned encounters at the weddings of their friends and family. Parey Hut Love also stars Nadeem Baig, Ahmed Ali Butt and Zara Noor Abbas and Shahbaz Shigri in prominent roles. The film also features a cameo by Mahira Khan and a special appearance by Fawad Khan. There are also cameos from Meera, Sonya Jehan and Ahmed Ali Akbar.

<i>Superstar</i> (2019 film) 2019 Pakistani Urdu language romantic-musical-drama film

Superstar is a 2019 Pakistani romantic, musical-drama film, starring Bilal Ashraf and Mahira Khan. It is directed by Mohammed Ehteshamuddin, produced by Momina & Duraid Films, and the music and screenplay are by Azaan Sami Khan. The story of the film follows Noori, who works in a theatre run by her uncle Agha Jan, her entry in films and her romance and betrayal. The principal photography of the film began in March 2019. It was released on the occasion of Eid al-Adha on 12 August 2019 by Hum Films under Momina & Duraid Films.
