onGamers was an online magazine focused upon professional electronic sports (esports) coverage. [1] The onGamers platform was originally a part of GameSpot as the esports division, which was also owned by owned by CBS Interactive. [2]
Development of the onGamers project began on July 16, 2013, when the former chief marketing officer of SteelSeries, Kim Rom, was appointed to the position of Vice President of eSports at CBS Interactive. [3] The onGamers website was released in a beta version on November 7, 2013, with the announcement of the retirement of the CBS eSports brand and the recruitment of a content creation staff. [1]
After breaching the terms of the social news site reddit by engaging in vote manipulation, the site was banned from the service for a minimum of a year. [4] Following the ban, the site experienced a 50% drop in visits, and was 'on the brink of disaster'. [5]
In December 2015, onGamers was quietly retired, with the site and all articles redirecting to GameSpot's League of Legends section. [6] [7] All online properties were also rebranded as G|League. [8]
Counter-Strike is a tactical first-person shooter game developed by Valve. Several remakes and ports were released on Xbox, as well as OS X and Linux.

Team Curse, also known as Curse eSports, was a North American esports organization sponsored by Curse, Inc. and based in Los Angeles. Formed as a League of Legends team in 2010 by Steve "LiQuiD112" Arhancet, it was acquired by Curse Inc. in August 2011, and the team renamed to Team Curse. On April 15, 2014, Arhancet announced that he had purchased the esports arm of the Curse Inc., which from then on was an organization entire separated from Curse, Inc., although they were still the title sponsor of the new Curse eSports brand.

The 2014 League of Legends World Championship was an esports tournament held from September 18 to October 19, 2014, for the multiplayer online battle arena video game League of Legends. It was the fourth iteration of the League of Legends World Championship, an annual international tournament organized by the game's developer, Riot Games. Matches were held in Taipei, Singapore, Busan, and Seoul, with grand finals being at the Seoul World Cup Stadium in Seoul, South Korea. The 16 teams qualified by either winning a major professional league or a regional qualifying tournament. There was a 16 team round-robin group stage followed by an 8 team single elimination bracket. The games were officially streamed on Twitch and Azubu in several languages and the finals were aired online on ESPN3.

Each annual season of play is divided into three splits, winter, spring and summer, all consisting of three weeks of round-robin tournament play, which then conclude with play-off tournaments between the top six teams. At the end of the season, the top performing teams qualify for the annual League of Legends World Championship. The LEC represents the highest level of League of Legends play in the EMEA.
