Maganbhai Ranchhodbhai Patel was an Indian bureaucrat, known for his contributions to the cooperative sector in India. [1] He was also known for introducing reforms in the land sector for the benefit of the farmers. [1] He was involved with many cooperative institutions [2] and banks such as Sardargunj Mercantile Co-operative Bank [3] and Kalupur Bank. [1] He was honoured by the Government of India in 1967, with the award of Padma Shri, the fourth highest Indian civilian award for his contributions to the society. [4]

Shivajirao Girdhar Patil was an Indian social activist and politician from the state of Maharashtra. Chaturbhuj Meher is an Indian weaver, considered one of the master weavers of the Tie-dye handloom tradition of Odisha. Born on 13 October 1935 at Sonepur in Odisha, he had formal education only up to school level but learned the traditional weaving craft to join Weavers' Service Centre as a Weaver. Vayan Vihar, a handloom factory and Handloom Research and Training Center, a research institute in Sonepur have been founded by him and he is known to have trained over 10,000 craftsmen.
Balasaheb Shivram Bharde (1912–2006), also known as Trimbak, was an Indian independence activist, social worker, educationist and the speaker of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. He was known for his contributions to the cooperative movement in Maharashtra as the Minister of Co-operation (1957–1962). He was associated with several social and government organizations such as Khadi Gramodhyog, Harijan Sevak Sangh and Maharashtra Gandhi Smarak Nidhi (MGSN) and served as the chairman of the first named and as the second president of the MGS Nidhi. He also chaired the Maharashtra State Khadi Board.
Zainulabedin Gulamhusain Rangoonwala was the co-founder and managing director of the Bombay Mercantile Cooperative Bank. This became one of the largest cooperative banks in India and also in Asia.
Shyama Prasad Mandal is an Indian orthopedic surgeon and the co-chairperson of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi. After securing his graduate and MS degrees from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, he continued his education to secure the degree of MCh in orthopedics from Liverpool University. He is a former president of the Indian Orthopaedic Association as well as the president of its Building Committee and the incumbent president of Board of Trustees of Amarjyoti Charitable Trust, a not-for-profit organization engaged in educational and rehabilitation service. He has been involved with the organization of medical conferences, and was the co-chairman of the organizing committee of Knee and Arthroscopy Workshop of 2008 and the patron of the Lower Limb Symposia of 2012, conducted jointly by the Indian Federation of Sports Medicine, Indian Arthroscopy Society and Indian Association of Sports Medicine. He was in the news when he examined Sachin Tendulkar in 1999 for his recurring back injury. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri, in 2011, for his contributions to medical science. He is also a recipient of a civilian honor from the Government of Bangladesh. Indian Orthopedic Association has instituted an award, S. P. Mandal Gold Medal, in his honor.
Prakash Chand Surana was an Indian jeweler, business person, philanthropist and a music connoisseur, known for his efforts to promote Hindustani music. He was the co-founder of Shruti Mandal, a music community in Jaipur and served as its president, under the aegis of which he reportedly attempted to revive Jaipur gharana tradition. Founded in 1964, the forum has hosted, over the years, such musicians as Kumar Gandharv, Ravi Shankar, Zakir Hussain, Bhimsen Joshi and Hariprasad Chaurasia. Born in 1939 in Jaipur in the Indian state of Rajasthan in a Marwari family, he inherited the family jewelry business and contributed to reviving the Kundan meenakari tradition of jewelry making. Surana, who was married to Shobha Devi and had four children- Chandra, Manju, Pracheer & Priti, died on 5 February 2015, succumbing to a cardiac arrest. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri, posthumously in 2016, for his contributions to arts. He was also a recipient of Sawai Bhawani Singh Award for excellence in business and industry and Dagar Gharana Award of the Maharana of Mewar Foundation.
Raghubhai Morarji Nayak (1907–2003) was an Indian educationist, social worker and the founder principal of Sardar Patel Vidyalaya. He was the co-founder of Saraswati Vidyamandal, which runs a number of educational institutions in the Indian state of Gujarat. Known to have been a student of Rabindranath Tagore, he also served as the chairman of Saraswati Kelavani Mandal, the holding trust managing a group of schools. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri, in 1976, for his contributions to education.
Padma Shri Piyong Temjen Jamir was a noted Hindi scholar and littérateur from Longsa village under Mokokchung district in Nagaland state of India. He was conferred the Padma Sri honour by the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, in 2018 for the promotion of Hindi language and social work.
