The Corydon Historic District is a national historic district located in Corydon, Indiana, United States. The town of Corydon is also known as Indiana's First State Capital and as Historic Corydon. The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973, but the listing was amended in 1988 to expand the district's geographical boundaries and include additional sites. The district includes numerous historical structures, most notably the Old Capitol, the Old Treasury Building, Governor Hendricks' Headquarters, the Constitution Elm Memorial, the Posey House, the Kintner-McGrain House, and The Kintner House Inn, as well as other residential and commercial sites.
The McKinley School, also known as North Side School, is a historic school building located at Seventeenth St. and Home Ave., in Columbus, Indiana. It was designed by architect Charles Franklin Sparrell and built in 1892. It is a 2+1⁄2 - story, five-bay, Richardsonian Romanesque style red brick building with a limestone base and hipped roof. It measures 73 feet wide and 38 feet deep. An additional structure was erected in 1942, and measures approximately 127 feet wide and 38 feet deep.
The Indiana Territorial Capitol, also known as the Indiana Territory State Memorial and Legislative Hall, is part of a state historical site in Vincennes, Indiana. Part of a row of buildings located across from Vincennes University, the building was the center of government for the Indiana Territory from 1800 to 1813. It was built between 1800 and 1805, and is a simple two-story frame building. It was moved to its present site in 1949.
The Indianapolis City Market is a historic public market located in Indianapolis, Indiana. It was founded in 1821 and officially opened in its current facility in 1886. The market building is a one-story, rectangular brick building trimmed in limestone. It has a front gable center section flanked by square towers. While it was originally a farmers market, it is now a food hall. The Indianapolis City Market also hosted some events for Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis.
Indiana State Highway Bridge 42-11-3101, also known as Poland Bridge, is a historic Parker through truss bridge located in Cass Township, Clay County, Indiana. It was built by the Vincennes Bridge Company and erected in 1939. It carries State Road 42 over the Eel River. It measures 175 feet long and rests on a concrete abutment and concrete pier.
Aqueduct Bridge, also known as the Coffey Bridge and Clay County Bridge #182, is a historic Pratt through truss and Pratt pony truss bridge located in Perry Township and Sugar Ridge Township, Clay County, Indiana. The original span was built by the Cleveland Bridge and Iron Company in 1880 and the second section by the Vincennes Bridge Company in 1920. It carries Towpath Road over Birch Creek. The original span measures 60 feet (18 m) and the second span 102 feet (31 m) long. They rest on concrete abutments and a central pier.
Hack and Simon Office Building, also known as the Eagle Brewery Office Building, is a historic office building located at Vincennes, Knox County, Indiana. It was built in 1885, and is a two-story, Romanesque Revival style red brick building, with a 1+1⁄2-story rear addition built about 1910. It rests on a limestone foundation and has gable roofs on the two sections. The front facade features arched openings and raised carving of the Eagle Brewery emblem. The building housed brewery and later distillery offices into the 1950s, after which it was acquired by Vincennes University.
Vincennes Fortnightly Club is a historic Women's club clubhouse located at Vincennes, Knox County, Indiana. It was built in 1928, and is a two-story, Colonial Revival style brick and Indiana limestone building. The tripartite front facade features arched openings and a decorative metal railed balcony on the second floor. The dumbbell-shaped building consists of a main entrance block, auditorium, and rear stage section.
Vincennes Historic District is a national historic district located at Vincennes, Knox County, Indiana. The district encompasses 1,161 contributing buildings, 5 contributing sites, 9 contributing structures, and 37 contributing objects in the central business district and surrounding residential sections of Vincennes. It developed between about 1787 and 1955, and includes notable examples of Federal, Greek Revival, Italianate, and Classical Revival style architecture. Located in the district are the separately listed George Rogers Clark National Historical Park, William Henry Harrison Home, Indiana Territorial Capitol, Old State Bank, and St. Francis Xavier Cathedral and Library. Other notable buildings include the Brouillet House, Knox County Courthouse (1873), Ellis Mansion, Lacy House, Dunn House (1840), Summers House, Fyfield House (1860), Grannan House, Cauthorn House, Gimble-Bond Store (1879), and Rabb House.
Monroe Carnegie Library, also known as Old Monroe Carnegie Library, is a historic Carnegie library located at Bloomington, Monroe County, Indiana. It was built in 1917, and is a one-story, rectangular, Neoclassical style limestone building on a raised basement. The Monroe County History Center is a history museum the historic library building that was established as a Carnegie library. The museum is located on the site of Center School in the former Bloomington Public Library building. The library building is now home to the Monroe County Historical Society, their collection of artifacts, and their Genealogy Library. A historical marker is present at the site. The History Center is located at 202 East 6th Street. It is a tourist attraction.
Secrest Ferry Bridge is a historic Pennsylvania through truss bridge located in Bean Blossom Township, Monroe County, Indiana and Wayne Township, Owen County, Indiana. It was built by the Lafayette Engineering Co. and Vincennes Bridge Co. in 1903. It is a single-span bridge of 316 feet in length and spans the West Fork of the White River.
Martinsville, also known as the Indianapolis and Vincennes Railroad Depot, is a historic train station located at Martinsville, Morgan County, Indiana. It was built by the Indianapolis and Vincennes Railroad in 1911, and is a one-story, rectangular, Bungalow/American Craftsman style brick building. It has a bellcast red clay tile hipped roof and measures 24 feet by 75 feet. Passenger service on the line ended in 1940, and the building was subsequently used as a freight depot. The building faces the Martinsville Sanitarium. The building housed the Martinsville Chamber of Commerce and currently houses the Martinsville Arts Council.
Enterprise Hotel, also known as Gasthaus Alt Heidelberg, is a historic hotel building located at Lafayette, Tippecanoe County, Indiana. It was built in 1895, and is a three-story, five-bay, rectangular, Italianate style brick building, with rear additions. It measures 42 feet wide and 32 feet deep. It is historically significant as a European style tavern / inn.
Michigan Road Toll House is a historic toll house located on the Michigan Road at Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana. It was built about 1850, as a simple one-story frame building. It was raised to two stories in 1886. The building operated as a toll house from about 1866 to 1892. The building was also used as a post office, notary public office, and general store.
Administration Building, Indiana Central University, also known as Good Hall, is a historic building located at the University of Indianapolis, Indianapolis, Indiana. It was built in 1904, and is a 3+1⁄2-story, Classical Revival style red-brick building. It measures approximately 127 feet by 150 feet and features a colossal two-story portico supported by Ionic order columns. It has two-story flanking wings and a porte cochere.
Sheffield Inn, also known as the Sheffield Apartments, is a historic apartment building located at Indianapolis, Indiana. It was built in 1927, and is a two-story, I-shaped Tudor Revival style masonry building. It features a multi-gabled slate roof with 2+1⁄2-story projecting gabled pavilion, decorative chimney, banks of leaded glass windows, and decorative half-timbering. The building was originally designed as a residential hotel and remodeled in 1971. It is located immediately next to the Manchester Apartments.
L.S. Ayres Annex Warehouse, also known as Elliott's Block Nos. 14-22, is a historic warehouse building located at Indianapolis, Indiana. It was built in 1875 by the L.S. Ayres department store, and is a three-story, rectangular Italianate style brick building with an elaborate cast iron first story storefront. Other decorative elements are in stone, brick, and sheet metal. It measures 72 feet, 6 inches, wide and 49 feet, 6 inches, deep. It features Corinthian order columns as part of the cast iron facade.
Fidelity Trust Building is a historic bank building located in Indianapolis, Indiana. It was built in 1914–1915, and is an eight-story rectangular Classical Revival style building faced in white glazed brick and terra cotta. It measures 39 feet (12 m) wide by 110 feet (34 m) deep. At the time of its listing, the building housed J. Pierpont's Restaurant and Bar.
Rink's Womens Apparel Store, also known as the Rink Building, is a historic commercial building located at Indianapolis, Indiana. It was built in 1910, and is a six-story, rectangular, steel frame building sheathed in clay tile and masonry. It measures approximately 120 feet by 70 feet and is four bays wide by seven long. It features large Chicago style window openings. The building housed the Rink's Womens Apparel Store, in operation until 1939.
Old Indianapolis City Hall, formerly known as the Indiana State Museum, is a historic city hall located at Indianapolis, Indiana. It was built in 1909–1910, and is a four-story, Classical Revival style brick building sheathed in Indiana limestone. It measures 188 by 133 feet.
