Tumbbad is a 2018 Indian Hindi-language folk horror film directed by Rahi Anil Barve. Additionally, Anand Gandhi served as the creative director, and Adesh Prasad served as the co-director. Written by Mitesh Shah, Prasad, Barve, and Gandhi, the film was produced by Sohum Shah, Aanand L. Rai, Mukesh Shah and Amita Shah. Starring Sohum Shah in the lead role as Vinayak Rao, it follows the story of his search for a hidden treasure in the 20th century Indian village of Tumbbad, Maharashtra.
Sohum Shah is an Indian actor, producer, and entrepreneur who works in Hindi films. He made his first screen appearance in 2009 with the film Baabarr, where he played the antagonist and in 2012 with the National Award-winning film Ship of Theseus which was produced under his banner, Recyclewala Films. Following his debut, Shah featured in Talvar (2015) and Simran (2017). His film Tumbbad received heavy critical acclaim.
Sanyukta Kaza is an Indian film editor best known for her work on Tumbbad, Bhediya, Paatal lok, Mismatched and Kohrra. Her films have won accolades at multiple film festivals such as Cannes, Venice, Sundance, Toronto, Sitges, Screamfest, Palm springs etc. She has a Masters in Fine Arts from Chapman university.
