Sagami Line

The Sagami Railway Main Line(相鉄本線,Sōtetsu Honsen), also known as the Sōtetsu line, is a railway line in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, operated by the private railway operator Sagami Railway (Sōtetsu). It connects Yokohama and Ebina.

Services on the Main Line are divided into four categories. Some trains travel along the Izumino Line west of Futamatagawa to Shōnandai.

It connects Futamatagawa in Yokohama to Shōnandai in Fujisawa. The line symbol used in the station numbering is "SO". In addition, although this line has been acquired a stretch license to |Hiratsuka City, the prospect of stretching opening is not standing.

A 10-km link line is planned from Hazawa to Shin-Yokohama and Hiyoshi on the Tōkyū Tōyoko Line to allow through services to and from Shibuya in Tokyo from March 2019. [2]

The name of the line, Tōyoko (東横), is a combination of the first characters of Tōkyō (京) and Yokohama (浜). The Toyoko Line is the mainline of the Tokyu network. The section between Den-en-chōfu and Hiyoshi Station is a quadruple track corridor with the Tōkyū Meguro Line.

Sotetsu 7000 series Japanese train type

The Sotetsu 7000 series (相鉄7000系) and Sotetsu New 7000 series (相鉄新7000系) are DC electric multiple unit (EMU) commuter train types operated by Sagami Railway (Sotetsu) in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. They were designed to operate as eight-car or ten-car sets, but the New 7000 series operates only as ten-car sets.

History

The line opened 12 May 1926 as the steam-operated Jinchu Railway(神中鉄道,Jinchū Tetsudō) between Futamatagawa and Atsugi (on the present-day Sagami Line). [3] The line was extended from Futamatagawa to Yokohama in December 1933, and from the former station at Sagami-Kokubu(相模国分) (now closed) in November 1941. [3]

The Sagami Line is a railway line in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, operated by East Japan Railway Company. It approximately parallels the east bank of the Sagami River. The line connects Hashimoto Station in Sagamihara and Chigasaki Station in Chigasaki.

The line became the Sagami Railway Jinchu Line(相模鉄道神中線) from 1 April 1943. [3]

Work to electrify the line commenced in June 1942, with the entire line between Yokohama and Ebina electrified by 20 September 1944. [3]

Work to double-track the line commenced in January 1957 between Yokohama and Nishi-Yokohama. The entire line was double-tracked by March 1974. [3]

The first air-conditioned trains (4-car 6000 series EMUs) were introduced on the line on 3 July 1971. [3]

10-car trains started operating on the line from 6 April 1981. [3]

Station ticket barriers were modified to allow use of the Passnet magnetic farecard from 1 October 2000. [3]

There was a short spur line which branched from Sagamino Station to the Naval Air Facility Atsugi air base. While the track remains in place up to the fence of the base, the line is no longer in use.

The Kanagawa Eastern Line is the project name for an under-construction rail link from Nishiya Station on the Sōtetsu Main Line to Hiyoshi Station on the Tōkyū Tōyoko Line, bypassing Yokohama-Hazawa Station on the JR Tōkaido Freight Line, and via Shin-Yokohama Station.

Hazawa Yokohama-Kokudai Station

Hazawa Yokohama-Kokudai Station is a station currently under construction on the Sōtetsu Shin-Yokohama Line. It is located in Kanagawa-ku, Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture. This station will be jointly operated by Sōtetsu, with provisional station number SO51, and JR East.
