Sehnsa Tehsil is a large Tehsil in Pakistan Administered Azad Kashmir which lies on the west of Gulpur on the Kotli-Rawalpindi road. Sehnsa is a sub-divisional (Tehsil) headquarters of Kotli district in the center of Sehnsa valley.
On October 8, 2005 this city also felt strong shocks but no damage occurred. On the same day the NGO (Khidmat Khalq Trust) went to the affected areas of AJK. it was the first NGO to reach the Bagh district to help the affected people. This NGO remained for almost six months and helped build homes. People of Sehnsa also participated in helping.

Azad Jammu and Kashmir, abbreviated as AJK and colloquially referred to as simply Azad Kashmir, is a region administered by Pakistan as a nominally self-governing entity and constituting the western portion of the larger Kashmir region, which has been the subject of a dispute between India and Pakistan since 1947. Bhimber District is a district of Pakistan-administered Azad Kashmir in the disputed Kashmir region. It is the southernmost of the 10 districts of Pakistan's territory of Azad Kashmir. It has an area of 1,516 km², and the district headquarter is the town of Bhimber.

Poonch District is a district of Pakistan-administered Azad Kashmir in the disputed Kashmir region. It is one of the 10 districts of this Pakistan-administered territory. It is bounded on the north by Bagh District, on the north-east by Haveli District, on the south-east by the Poonch District of Indian-administered Kashmir, on the south by Azad Kashmir's Sudhanoti and Kotli districts, and on the west by Rawalpindi District of Pakistan's Punjab Province. The Poonch District is part of the greater Kashmir dispute between India and Pakistan. The district headquarters is the city of Rawalakot. It is the third most populous district of Azad Kashmir.
Mirpur District is a district of Pakistan-administered Azad Kashmir in the disputed Kashmir region. It is one of the 10 districts of Pakistan's territory of Azad Kashmir. The Mirpur District is bounded on the north by the Kotli District, on the east by the Bhimber District, on the south by the Gujrat District of Punjab, Pakistan, on the south-west by the Jhelum District of Punjab, Pakistan, and on the west by its Rawalpindi District. The district is named after its main city, Mirpur. The Mirpur District has a population of 456,200 and covers an area of 1,010 km2 (390 sq mi). The district is mainly mountainous with some plains. The Mirpur District has a humid subtropical climate which closely resembles that of the Gujrat District and the Jhelum District, the adjoining districts of Pakistan's Punjab Province.

Kotli Sattian is a Tehsil (subdivision) of Murree District in the Punjab province of Pakistan. Its name is derived from the mountain town of Kotli and the Satti tribe. This subdivision is geographically a part of the Murree and Kahuta hills. It was declared a subdivision in 1990 by breaking up 40 villages out of both subdivisions.
Khuiratta or Khoi ratta is a Tehsil in Kotli District, in Pakistan-administered Azad Kashmir.
Holar is a city in the Sehnsa tehsil of Kotli District, of Azad Kashmir, Pakistan. It has a crossing on the Jhelum river, which used to be called Owen Pattan in the princely state of Jammu and Kashmir, but now called Holar bridge. The Kahuta–Kotli road passes over the bridge.
Sardar Sikandar Hayat Khan was an Azad Kashmiri politician who served as the Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir for two non-consecutives terms. He also served as the President of Azad Kashmir twice. He was the longest-serving prime minister of Azad Kashmir, having served a total of more than 10 years across two tenures.
Colonel Khan Muhammad Khan was a prominent Sudhan soldier and politician in Poonch, serving in the Legislative Assembly of the princely state of Jammu & Kashmir until 1947. Later he served as the Chairman of the War Council during the 1947 Poonch Rebellion.
The Mirpuri diaspora constitutes individuals with an origin in the Mirpur District of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, now living outside that district. Migration from Mirpur started occurring in the 1920s, when many Mirpuris left for Bombay to work on merchant ships. During the partition of British India in 1947, many Mirpuri Hindus and Mirpuri Sikhs were forced to flee to cities in the princely state of Jammu and Kashmir. The construction of the Mangla Dam by the Pakistani Government in the 1960s caused many of Mirpuri Muslims to migrate to the United Kingdom to work as labourers.
LA-8 Kotli-I is a constituency of Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly which is currently represented by Zaffar Iqbal Malik of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). It covers half of Kotli Tehsil in Kotli District.
LA-11 Kotli-IV is a constituency of the Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly which is currently represented by Chaudhry Muhammad Ikhlaq of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). It covers the area of Sehnsa Tehsil in Kotli District.
LA-12 Kotli-V is a constituency of the Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly which is currently represented by Amir Yasin Chaudhry of the Pakistan People's Party (PPP). It covers the area of Charhoi Tehsil in Kotli District.
LA-13 Kotli-VI is a constituency of the Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly which is currently represented by Nisar Ansar of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). It covers the area of Khuiratta Tehsil in Kotli District.
General elections were held in Azad Kashmir on 25 July 2021 after the expiry of the 5-year term of the previous Legislative Assembly. The elections were held in 33 constituencies of Azad Kashmir and 12 constituencies of the refugees of Jammu and Kashmir in Pakistan.
On 3 November 2021, a 40-seater bus heading to Rawalpindi carrying more than 30 passengers fell into a ditch in Pallandri, Sudhanoti District, Azad Jammu and Kashmir killed at least 23 people, including women and children and seven others were injured.
