Singapore Chess Championship

The Singapore Chess Championship is the annual individual national chess championship of Singapore organised by the Singapore Chess Federation. The event also features a Challengers section, which is a FIDE-rated tournament for amateur chess players. In 2015, the Challengers section was named "Singapore Amateur Chess Championship".

The British Chess Championships are organised by the English Chess Federation. The main tournament incorporates the British Championship, the English Chess Championships and the British Women's Chess Championship so it is possible, although it has never happened, for one player to win all three titles in the same competition. The Greek Chess Championship is the major individual National Championship in Greece. The record holding winners are Vasilios Kotronias at the Open/Men's Championship with 10 titles and Marina Makropoulou at the Women's Championship with 9 titles.

The European Senior Chess Championship is a chess tournament for senior chess players organised by the European Chess Union (ECU). Beginning in 2001, entry was open to men aged sixty or over (60+) by January 1 of the year the tournament starts. The corresponding, women's category had an age restriction of fifty years or over (50+).

The first official Lebanese Chess Championship was held in 1953. Lebanese chess players had organized a tournament in 1943 to determine an unofficial champion, won by Charles Salameh. In 1953 Salameh also won the first official championship tournament. The championship has been held regularly, except in the war years of 1969, 1973, and 1975 to 1991. Edgard Chalabi's death caused the 1963 championship to be skipped, and no championship was held in 2006. The women's championship began in 1994.

The Asian Chess Championship is a chess tournament open to all players from Asian chess federations. It's held with the Swiss system and consists in two divisions, Open and Women's, the latter of which is reserved to female players. Both sections determine the Asian champions and qualify a certain number of players for the FIDE World Cup and knockout Women's World Chess Championship respectively.

The Arab Chess Championship is an annual international chess competition organized by the Arab Chess Federation, with 18 member countries. Parallel Men's and Women's competitions have been held in various cities since 1983.

The Japanese women's chess championship has been largely dominated by Naoko Takemoto.

The British National Circuit Race Championships cover several different categories of British road bicycle racing events, normally held annually. The first championships were held in 1979 for professional cyclists only. Amateur championships were introduced in 1993 but only 3 of these were held as the amateur and professional championships were combined into an open event in 1996. Women's championships were not held until 1998.

The Croatian Chess Championship is the annual individual national chess championship of Croatia.

Gong Qianyun is a Chinese born Singaporean chess player. She was awarded the title of Woman Grandmaster (WGM) by FIDE in 2018.

Nelson Isurina Mariano II is a Filipino chess player. He was awarded the title of Grandmaster by FIDE in 2004, the fifth from the Philippines. Mariano won the Asian Junior Chess Championship in 1994.
