St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and Rectory is a historic Roman Catholic church located at Taos, Cole County, Missouri, United States. The church was built in 1883, and is a Romanesque Revival style brick and stone church. It features a centered bell tower with a polygonal steeple that reaches 190 feet in height. The rectory was built in 1923, and is a 2 1/2-story, Tudor Revival style with a steeply pitched hipped roof with cross gables. It features bands of narrow windows and some faux half timbering. [2]

The DeCurtins family, sometimes written De Curtins, were involved in Midwestern U.S. church architecture. Anton De Curtins was a Swiss immigrant who lived in Carthagena, Ohio and designed several Gothic Revival architecture churches in Mercer County, Ohio, as well as rectories, schools and residences. Anton was a master carpenter, and with his sons he directed the building and decorating of the steepled churches that "still shine across the surrounding flatness of the Northwestern Ohio landscape".

St. Louis, Besancon, Historic District

St. Louis, Besancon, Historic District is a historic Roman Catholic church complex and national historic district located near New Haven in Jefferson Township, Allen County, Indiana. The district encompasses five contributing buildings and one contributing site consisting of the Saint Louis Besancon Roman Catholic Church and its cemetery and rectory. The Gothic Revival style church was built in 1870-71 of brick, fired in a nearby kiln, then covered with cement to give an appearance of stone. It features a steep gable roof and five part projecting square steeple. The rectory was built in 1893, and is a 2 1/2-story, Queen Anne style brick dwelling. The other contributing resources are the St. Louis Academy (1915), St. Louis Convent House (1915), garage (1940), and Old St. Louis Cemetery. The church was refurbished and painted in 1998.

The St. Francis Xavier Cathedral is a Roman Catholic church in Vincennes, Indiana. The basilica is named for Francis Xavier, a 16th-century Jesuit apostle, and is located opposite George Rogers Clark National Historical Park, at 205 Church Street. Jesuit missionaries established St. Francis Xavier parish around 1734, making it the oldest Catholic parish in Indiana. Its earliest parish records date from 1749. The present Greek Revival-style basilica, built on or near the site of two earlier Catholic churches, dates from 1826. St. Francis Xavier has ties to six Roman Catholic dioceses in North America: the Diocese of Quebec, Canada, the Diocese of Baltimore, Maryland, the Diocese of Bardstown, Kentucky, the Diocese of Vincennes, Indiana, the Diocese of Indianapolis, Indiana, and the Diocese of Evansville, Indiana. In 1834, when Pope Gregory XVI erected the Diocese of Vincennes, St. Francis Xavier was elevated to a cathedral and served as the seat of the episcopal see from 1834 to 1898. The seat of the diocese was moved to Indianapolis in 1878, and in 1898 the episcopal see was renamed the Diocese of Indianapolis. On 14 March 1970 Pope Paul VI elevated St. Francis Xavier Cathedral to the status of Basilica, "an honor reserved for only the most historic churches."

The church was built in 1926-1927, and is a variegated red brick Romanesque Revival style church. It sits on a concrete foundation and has a 60 foot tall bell tower. Also on the property is the contributing brick rectory constructed in 1942.

The church was built in 1906, and is a Late Gothic Revival style building constructed of Carthage limestone. It measures 63 feet, 6 inches, by 122 feet, 8 inches and features circular windows; tracery; Gothic arched windows and doors; and the triple portal entry. The rectory was built in 1917, and is a two-story Prairie School style dwelling with a finished basement. It is constructed of Carthage limestone and has a low pitched, hipped roof with wide overhang. Also on the property is a contributing concrete block garage.

Built in 1870 within what was then known as a village within the township of Colchester, the parish church became one of the most visible landmarks in Chittenden County due to its unique double-spired design and proportional size comparative to its surrounding structures. The Church was listed on the Vermont State Historic Register on November 22, 1993.
