President Mohammed Shahabuddin administered the oath to him, which resulted in the formation of Tarique's cabinet and the 13th National Parliament. [2]
After nearly two decades in exile, Tarique Rahman returned to Bangladesh in 2025 following the dismissal of legal charges by the judiciary under the interim government. The BNP-led coalition won a significant majority in the Jatiya Sangsad and defeated the 11 Party alliance.
