Thalia is a genus of tunicates belonging to the family Salpidae. [1]

The genus has almost cosmopolitan distribution. [1]

Species: [1]

Sperm and egg interaction has been studied to discover if there are any shared features with other marine invertebrates. It was found that they are closely related to Ascidians and supports the idea that Ascidians gave rise to them. [2]

Thaliacea is a class of marine chordates within the subphylum Tunicata, comprising the salps, pyrosomes and doliolids. A salp or salpa is a barrel-shaped, planktonic tunicate in the family Salpidae.
