The Great Indian Film and Literature Festival (abbreviated as GIFLIF) is a film and literary festival in India, started in 2012. [1] It is India's first film and literature festival. The festival conducts film screenings, theater presentations, poetry reading, musical concerts and workshops. [2] The Great Indian Film and Literature Festival is supported by the Department of Culture and Department of Tourism, and the Government of Madhya Pradesh. [3] [4]

History

The GIFLIF was founded in 2012 by Karan Kukreja and Manoj Kukreja. [2] It was formerly known as the Gurgaon International Film and Literature Festival. [5] [6] The festival has three successfully running chapters in Gurgaon (2015, 2016), Bhopal (2016, 2017, 2018) and Raipur (2018).

Editions

1st Edition

The first edition of GIFLIF was held at DLF CyberHub in Gurgaon, Haryana in December 2015. The festival showcased 1764 films from all around the world. [5] The following authors, film and literary personalities participated in the 1st edition:

2nd Edition

The second edition of GIFLIF was held in October 2016 at Jehan Numa Palace Hotel in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. [7] [8] The following authors, film and literary personalities participated in the 2nd edition: [6]

3rd Edition

The third edition of GIFLIF was held at DLF Cyber Hub in Gurgaon, Haryana from 2 December 2016 to 4 December 2018 to showcase the vernacular spirit of Indian film and literature. [9] The festival was inaugurated by Padma Vibhushan Adoor Gopalakrishnan and author Ruskin Bond. [10] In this three-day festival, there were a panel discussion on film production, digital media, advertising, publishing, literature, scriptwriting and film screenings. 4th Edition

The 4th edition of GIFLIF was held at Hotel Lake View Ashok in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh from August 4, 2017 to August 6, 2018. [12] [13] The following authors, film and literary personalities participated in the 4th edition:

5th Edition

The fifth edition of GIFLIF was held in Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh. It was inaugurated by Raman Singh, the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh on 5 January 2018. [14] [1] Actor Piyush Mishra's band Ballimaran, performed his famous poems like Ik Bagal' and 'Aarambh Hai Prachand'. [15] Piyush Mishra also recited his latest poem titled Tum Meri Jaan Ho Raziya Bee, at the GIFLIF's Raipur chapter. [16] The Amir A Social Spark, a book by Dr. Kirti Sisodia, was also released by CM Raman Singh. [14] The following authors, film and literary personalities participated in the 5th edition:

Patrons

AISECT University, Screenwriters Association, and Whistling Woods International are some of its patrons. The festival is supported by the Department of Culture and the Department of Tourism, Government of Madhya Pradesh. [4] [3]

Hari Bhoomi is a daily newspaper published in North and Central India. Established on 5 September 1996 as a weekly Hindi language newspaper, in November 1997, it was converted into a daily newspaper and was started in Haryana as the Hari Bhoomi 'Rohtak’ edition. With this edition the newspaper covered news from the whole state of Haryana.

Bhakla is an Indian Chhattisgarhi-language film, released on 5 May 2006. This film is notable because Lata Mangeshkar sang a song in this film, which was her first and only Chhattisgarhi song. The movie was directed by Dinesh Patel and written by Madan Sharma. The composer for his movie is Kalyan Sen, who is a notable music director in Chhattisgarh.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Shilpi Marwaha</span>

Shilpi Marwaha is an actor in the Delhi Theatre Circuit who first performed in 2008. She was a street theatre activist during the "anti corruption movement" in Delhi and the protests held at Rastrapati Bhawan, where she raised her voice against the 2012 Delhi gang rape and murder known as the "Nirbhaya" or "Damini" case. She has also worked in mainstream cinema in the Bollywood film, Raanjhanaa as Rashmi, Abhay Deol's sister, directed by Anand L. Rai in 2013, Bhoomiyude Avakashikal, directed by T. V. Chandran, "Widow of Silence" as Aasiya directed by Praveen Morchhale in 2018 and "Chhapaak" directed by Meghna Gulzar in 2020. She was awarded first Sarla Birla Award for her contribution to theatre, AAS Excellence Award 2016 for her participation in women empowerment initiatives, DCW award from Delhi Commission for Women and 'Devi' award from Indian Express Group for her contribution in women empowerment through theatre.

The Rajasthan Film Festival Award ceremony is a set of awards presented annually to honour both artistic and technical excellence of artistes in Rajasthani cinema as well as in other Regional Cinema of India. The awards were instituted in 2013. The 11th award ceremony was held on 30 September 2023 at Deep Smriti Auditorium. Aftab Shivdasani and Neha Dhupia did the hosting at the award night and Lifetime Achievement Award was given to the Bollywood actor Gulshan Grover. Bollywood Actor Govinda attended the festival as the chief guest.

His patronage and promotion of theatre through the Rang Vinayak Rang Mandal theatre repertoire and the annual theatre festival being organized in his own Windermere Theatre earned him the U.P. Sangeet Natak Academy award for 2020. His Daya Drishti Charitable Trust helps children born with thalassemia avail regular and lifesaving transfusions. His second book 'Next Patient, Please' was released on 26 March 2022. He was featured among top 75 personalities of Rohilkhand region of Uttar Pradesh by Amar Ujala. The list was published on the 75th foundation day of the newspaper.

Luv Ki Arrange Marriage is a 2024 Indian Hindi-language romantic comedy-drama film directed by Ishrat R. Khan. The film is written by Raaj Shaandilyaa, and produced by Vinod Bhanushali, Kamlesh Bhanushali, Raaj Shaandilyaa and Vimal Lahoti, under the banner of Bhanushali Studios and Thinkink Picturez. It stars Sunny Singh and Avneet Kaur in lead roles, alongside Annu Kapoor, Supriya Pathak and Rajpal Yadav in key roles.
