The Great Indian Film and Literature Festival (abbreviated as GIFLIF) is a film and literary festival in India, started in 2012. [1] It is India's first film and literature festival. The festival conducts film screenings, theater presentations, poetry reading, musical concerts and workshops. [2] The Great Indian Film and Literature Festival is supported by the Department of Culture and Department of Tourism, and the Government of Madhya Pradesh. [3] [4]

History

The GIFLIF was founded in 2012 by Karan Kukreja and Manoj Kukreja. [2] It was formerly known as the Gurgaon International Film and Literature Festival. [5] [6] The festival has three successfully running chapters in Gurgaon (2015, 2016), Bhopal (2016, 2017, 2018) and Raipur (2018).

Editions

1st Edition

The first edition of GIFLIF was held at DLF CyberHub in Gurgaon, Haryana in December 2015. The festival showcased 1764 films from all around the world. [5] The following authors, film and literary personalities participated in the 1st edition:

2nd Edition

The second edition of GIFLIF was held in October 2016 at Jehan Numa Palace Hotel in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. [7] [8] The following authors, film and literary personalities participated in the 2nd edition: [6]

3rd Edition

The third edition of GIFLIF was held at DLF Cyber Hub in Gurgaon, Haryana from 2 December 2016 to 4 December 2018 to showcase the vernacular spirit of Indian film and literature. [9] The festival was inaugurated by Padma Vibhushan Adoor Gopalakrishnan and author Ruskin Bond. [10] In this three-day festival, there were a panel discussion on film production, digital media, advertising, publishing, literature, scriptwriting and film screenings. 4th Edition

The 4th edition of GIFLIF was held at Hotel Lake View Ashok in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh from August 4, 2017 to August 6, 2018. [12] [13] The following authors, film and literary personalities participated in the 4th edition:

5th Edition

The fifth edition of GIFLIF was held in Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh. It was inaugurated by Raman Singh, the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh on 5 January 2018. [14] [1] Actor Piyush Mishra's band Ballimaran, performed his famous poems like Ik Bagal' and 'Aarambh Hai Prachand'. [15] Piyush Mishra also recited his latest poem titled Tum Meri Jaan Ho Raziya Bee, at the GIFLIF's Raipur chapter. [16] The Amir A Social Spark, a book by Dr. Kirti Sisodia, was also released by CM Raman Singh. [14] The following authors, film and literary personalities participated in the 5th edition:

AISECT University, Screenwriters Association, and Whistling Woods International are some of its patrons. The festival is supported by the Department of Culture and the Department of Tourism, Government of Madhya Pradesh. [4] [3]

<i>Hari Bhoomi</i>

Hari Bhoomi is a daily newspaper published in North and Central India. Established on 5 September 1996 as a weekly Hindi language newspaper, in November 1997, it was converted into a daily newspaper and was started in Haryana as the Hari Bhoomi 'Rohtak’ edition. With this edition the newspaper covered news from the whole state of Haryana.

Khesari Lal Yadav is an Indian actor, singer and model associated with Bhojpuri cinema. His breakthrough came in the form of the 2012 film Saajan Chale Sasural. In 2019, he participated in the reality show Bigg Boss 13.

Madhya Pradesh School of Drama

The Madhya Pradesh School of Drama or MPSD, is a theatre training institute situated at Bhopal, India. It is an autonomous organization under Ministry of Culture, Government of India. It was set up in 2011 by the cabinet of Madhya Pradesh.

8th Jagran Film Festival

The 8th Jagran Film Festival is organized in 16 cities of India namely, Delhi, Kanpur, Lucknow, Allahabad, Varanasi, Patna, Dehradun, Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Bhopal, Indore, Hisar, Ludhiana, Meerut, Raipur, and Mumbai. This edition of the festival will showcase 185 films from all around the world. The festival is an initiative of Jagran Prakashan Group, a publishing house listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange and the National Stock Exchange of India, aimed at promoting the appreciation of the cinematic art beyond the major metropolitan cities of India to smaller towns. The 8th Jagran Film Festival was held from July 1 to September 24, 2017. The first edition of Jagran Film Festival was held in the year 2010.

<i>Mum</i> (film)

Mum is a 2017 Hindi drama short film directed and produced by Akash Mihani and written by Jackie R. Bala. The film is focused on destroying long run worldwide issue of female infanticide and child abandonment. Mum is marked as directorial debut of Akash Mihani.

Mehandi Laga Ke Rakhna is a 2017 Indian Bhojpuri-language film written and directed by Rajnish Mishra and produced by Ananjay Raghuraj under banner of "Ananya Craft And Visions" and presented by "Om Sai Ram Entertainment" With association of "Trimurti Entertainment Media". The stars Khesari Lal Yadav and Kajal Raghwani in lead role while Ritu Singh, Awdhesh Mishra, Sanjay Pandey, Sanjay Mahanand, Karan Pandey, Deepak Sinha, Anand Mohan and others in supporting roles. Sangharsh is a 2018 Indian Bhojpuri language film directed by Parag Patil and produced by Ratnakar Kumar. Khesari Lal Yadav and Kajal Raghwani are in lead roles. Awadhesh Mishra, Ritu Singh, Dev Singh, Sanjay Mahanand and Deepak Sinha in supporting roles.

<i>Dabang Sarkar</i> 2018 Indian Bhojpuri-language film

Dabang Sarkar is a 2018 Indian Bhojpuri-language action drama film directed by Yogesh Raj Mishra and produced by Deepak Kumar and Rahul Vohra. It stars Khesari Lal Yadav and Akansha Awshthi. Sanjay Pandey, Deepika Tripathi, Anoop Arora, Samarth Chaturvedi, CP Bhatt, Jayashankat Pandey, Vineet Vishal and others play supporting roles. Kajal Raghwani makes a special appearance in a song.

Ratnesh Pandey

Ratnesh Pandey has been an Indian mountaineer, who climbed Mount Everest in 2016 and was the first in the world to recite the national anthem of his country at the highest peak of Mount Everest. He is the first mountaineer from Madhya Pradesh to scale Mount Everest.

Rakkhosh - You are never alone is a Hindi psychological thriller drama film where the camera is the lead character of the film. It is a first-person POV of a schizophrenic person. The film is an adaptation of a Marathi short story titled "Patient 302", by late Shri Narayan Dharap, who is a well-known writer in Marathi Literature in horror genre. The horror-drama Tumbbad is based on his two short stories Aaji ani Bali from book Padchaya.

<i>Nakkash</i> Hindi film

Nakkash is a 2019 Hindi language film written and directed by Zaigham Imam, and produced by actor/producer Pawan Tiwari’s Jalsa Pictures & AB Infosoft Creation in association with Padmaja Productions, starring Filmistaan trio Inaamulhaq Sharib Hashmi and Kumud Mishra. Nakkash was premiered at DCSAFF where the lead actor Inaamulhaq bagged 'Best Actor Award' for outstanding performance in "Nakkash". It was also screened at SgSAIFF where director Zaigham Imam bags Emerging Filmmaker of the Year award.

<i>Shinaakht</i> Indian short film

Shinaakht is an Indian Hindi-language short film directed, written and produced by Pragyesh Singh under the banner of TNV Films. The film stars Raju Kher, Shishir Sharma, Shakti Singh, Navni Parihar, Arfi Lamba, Stefy Patel, Bikramjeet Kanwarpal and Krishna Bhatt. The film is based on Circumcision which challenges Male genital mutilation (MGM) and Female genital mutilation (FGM) as per Islamic Law.

Baap Ji is an upcoming Indian Bhojpuri-language action drama film directed by Dev Pandey and produced by Prem Sagar under his production house "Sagar Film Entertainment". The stars Khesari Lal Yadav in the lead role and Ritu Singh in opposite role. While Manoj Singh Tiger, CP Bhatt, Brijesh Tripathi, Saheb Lal Dhari, Abhay Rai, Prakash Jais, Sanjay Verma, Ritu Pandey and others in supporting roles. Kajal Raghwani make a special appearance in a song.

Sabrang Film Awards Bhojpuri Award Show

The Sabrang Film Awards are an awards ceremony recognizing the best of Bhojpuri cinema. The awards have been presented annually since 2014. The awards are given for the following categories: Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress, Best Actor in a Negative Role, Best Actor in A comic role, and Best Debut and many more.
