The King's University is a private evangelical university in Southlake, Texas.
The King's University was founded by Jack W. Hayford with The Church on the Way as The King’s College and Seminary, in Van Nuys, (San Fernando Valley), California, in 1997. [1] [ better source needed ] In 2012, the school changed its name to become "The King's University" and opened a campus in Southlake, Texas sponsored by Gateway Church (Texas). [2] In 2013, the main campus and administration left California and permanently moved to Southlake. [3]
The King’s University is accredited by the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools at the Category IV level and by the Association for Biblical Higher Education. Both the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools and the Association of Biblical Higher Education are members of the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. [4]
The Institution is listed in the current edition of both The American Council on Education’s Accredited Institutions of Postsecondary Education and in the Higher Education directory. The Institution is acknowledged on the United States Department of Education website as an accredited postsecondary institution and participates in the United States Department of Education Title IV Program. The King’s University has been authorized to participate in the Montgomery GI Bill Veteran’s Benefits program and the Southlake, TX, campus is approved to enroll international students.
The King’s Seminary is accredited by the Commission on Accrediting of The Association of Theological Schools and is approved to offer the following degrees: Master of Divinity, Master of Practical Theology, Master of Organizational Leadership, and Doctor of Ministry. Additionally, The King’s Seminary has received approval for its comprehensive distance education. [4]
Moody Bible Institute (MBI) is a private evangelical Christian Bible college in Chicago, Illinois. It was founded by evangelist and businessman Dwight Lyman Moody in 1886. Historically, MBI has maintained positions that have identified it as non-charismatic, dispensational, and generally Calvinistic. Today, MBI operates undergraduate programs and Moody Theological Seminary at the Chicago campus. The Seminary also operates a satellite campus in Plymouth, Michigan. Moody Aviation operates a flight school in Spokane, Washington.
Trinity International University (TIU) is an evangelical Christian university headquartered in Deerfield, Illinois. It comprises Trinity College, Trinity Graduate School, a theological seminary, a law school, and a camp called Timber-lee. The university also maintains campuses in North Lauderdale, Florida & Miami, Florida; the camp is located in East Troy, Wisconsin. TIU is the only university affiliated with Evangelical Free Church of America in the United States and enrolls about 2,700 students. On February 17, 2023, TIU announced it was moving the undergraduate program to online modalities only and closed the residential campus at the end of the Spring 2023 semester.
The Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary is a Baptist theological institute in Fort Worth, Texas. It is affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention. It was established in 1908 and in 2005 was one of the largest seminaries in the world. It is accredited by the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, and the National Association of Schools of Music to award diplomas and bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees.
B. H. Carroll Theological Institute is an accredited Christian Baptist institution in Irving, Texas with multiple sources of funding and a self-perpetuating board of governors. It is named after Benajah Harvey Carroll and teaches Baptist principles and practices. It operates in cooperation primarily with Baptist churches, and also cooperates with other Great Commission Christians. The institution offers classes in both conventional classroom settings and by innovative means. It trains students in "“teaching churches” located in multiple Texas cities, as well as through interactive lessons taught over the Internet", with 20 such "teaching churches" in operation throughout Texas as of November 2006. The school plans to focus on the use of distance education to make it easier for students to obtain theological education. As of 2006, the school's second year of operation, B. H. Carroll Theological Institute had 300 students taking courses and an additional 300 students auditing courses. Bruce Corley was Carroll's first president; Gene Wilkes is Carroll's second president.
