Town & Country Village is an open-air shopping center in western Houston, Texas, United States, within the Memorial City district. The complex straddles the northbound frontage road of Beltway 8, north of Memorial Drive and south of CityCentre. From 1983 to 2004, Town & Country Village neighbored Town & Country Mall, an enclosed shopping mall which was located on the present-day CityCentre site. The 43-acre (17-hectare) [2] development features over 550,000 square feet (51,000 m2) of retail space and a 10-story, 250,000-square-foot (23,000 m2) office building. [3] Town & Country Village is owned by Houston-area development firm Moody Rambin.

History

The Original Town & Country Village was built in the 1960s with Joske's and Sakowitz among its anchors. In 1983, the north end of the center was redeveloped as Town & Country Mall, anchored by the existing Joske's along with JCPenney, Marshall Fields (later Saks Fifth Avenue) and Neiman Marcus. The mall was torn down in 2005.

By the late 1980s, the original village had Oshman's, Palais Royal, Continental Foods and Sakowitz. [4] Sakowitz closed in 1990. [5] Town & County Village was redeveloped in 1996, featuring Barnes & Noble and Randall's Food Markets.[ citation needed ]

Memorial City Mall

Memorial City Mall is a large shopping mall in Houston, Texas, United States. It is approximately 11 miles (18 km) west of downtown Houston at the intersection of Interstate 10 and Gessner Road. The mall is in the Memorial City Management District, whose official legal name is the "Harris County Municipal Management District No. 1" under Chapter 3810 of the Texas Special District Local Laws Code. The mall is adjacent to the large Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center. Constructed in the mid-1960s, the mall was renovated extensively in the early 2000s. It has since become one of the city's most popular malls.

North Star Mall Shopping mall in San Antonio

North Star Mall is a shopping mall in San Antonio, Texas, USA with anchor tenants Dillard's, JCPenney, Macy's, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Forever 21. The mall also has over 200 specialty stores, some exclusive to the San Antonio market, including Armani Exchange, The Cheesecake Factory, Build-A-Bear Workshop, MAC Cosmetics, Mont Blanc, Oakley, and Janie & Jack. The mall, which opened in 1960, is located at the intersection of Loop 410 and San Pedro Avenue in the city's Uptown District. It is a well-known city landmark for its Texas-sized cowboy boots, created by Texas artist Bob "Daddy-O" Wade, that are located along its Loop 410 frontage.

PlazAmericas

PlazAmericas, formerly known as Sharpstown Mall and earlier Sharpstown Center, is a shopping mall located in the Sharpstown development in Greater Sharpstown, Houston, Texas. The mall is located on the northwest corner of Interstate 69/U.S. Route 59 and Bellaire Boulevard. This is the third mall to be built in Houston after Gulfgate Mall opened in 1956 and Meyerland Plaza in 1957, but the first fully air-conditioned mall in Houston. The area includes the Jewelry Exchange Center, a ten-story building. After the mall was renamed PlazAmericas, it took a Latin American theme and catered to Hispanics.

Willowbrook Mall (Houston) shopping mall in Houston, Texas

Willowbrook Mall is an enclosed regional mall in Willowbrook, Houston, Texas at the intersection of Texas State Highway 249 and Farm to Market Road 1960. The mall has 6 anchor stores: Dick's Sporting Goods, Dillard's, J. C. Penney, Macy's, and Nordstrom Rack. In 2000, the mall was the 3rd largest Houston-area retail development based on net rentable area.

West Oaks Mall is a regional shopping mall located in the Alief area of the west side of Houston, Texas, USA, that opened in 1984. With a trade area serving far western parts of Houston including a business clientele in the Energy Corridor and suburban neighborhoods west of George Bush Park in the Greater Katy and Fulshear areas, the mall is located at Texas State Highway 6 and Westheimer Road and can easily be accessed south on Highway 6 via Interstate 10.

Richardson Square Mall was an enclosed single-level shopping center located in Richardson, Texas on Plano Road, stretching between the intersections of Beltline Road and Spring Valley Road. The three adjacent corners of Beltline and Plano Road were also occupied by shopping centers. Richardson Square Mall demolition began in June 2007.

The mall is located off Interstate 45, and it is also in proximity to Webster and the NASA Johnson Space Center. The mall's anchor stores in the lifestyle power center include a Dick's Sporting Goods and Field & Stream combo store; the anchor stores in the enclosed mall are Dillard's, JCPenney, Macy's, a large-scale Forever 21, and one vacant anchor space last occupied by Sears.

Windsor Park Mall was a shopping mall located on the northeast side of San Antonio, Texas, off Interstate 35 and Walzem Road. It opened in 1976 and closed in 2005.

Sakowitz was a chain of family-owned department stores based in Houston, Texas, United States. The store was founded by two brothers, Tobias and Simon Sakowitz, in Galveston, Texas in 1902. Other family members were working in the cotton mills in Galveston. The two brothers, Simon and Tobias, began a peddler business, taking orders and delivering clothes on a bicycle to the many merchant seamen in Galveston at that time. Eventually, the chain expanded to thirteen locations, of which ten were in Texas.

Gulfgate Center

Gulfgate Center, also known as Gulfgate Shopping City or Gulfgate Center, is a shopping center located in the East End, Houston, Texas, United States. The mall is located northwest of the intersection of the Gulf Freeway and Interstate 610. This is not an indoor shopping mall, it is a center of individual retail stores.

Highland Mall

Highland Mall was a shopping mall located in north Austin, Texas, United States, on Airport Boulevard west of I-35 and north of US Route 290. Opened in 1971, Highland Mall was Austin's first suburban shopping mall. Highland Mall was jointly owned by General Growth and Simon Property Group until 2011. Austin Community College began acquiring the surrounding land in 2010, assumed ownership of the last parcel it did not already control in August 2011. On April 29, 2015, Highland Mall officially closed its doors.

Memorial City is a commercial district in the Memorial area of Houston, Texas, United States. Located along Interstate 10 between Beltway 8 and Bunker Hill Road, the district is anchored by Memorial City Mall, the nation's 38th-largest shopping mall; Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center; CityCentre, a high-density mixed-use development; and Town & Country Village, a shopping center. The Mall of the Mainland, formally known as Shops on the Mainland, is a shopping mall located off the Emmett F. Lowry Expressway near Interstate 45 in Texas City, Texas. It was opened in 1991. The mall has 800,000 square feet (74,000 m2) of space. The mall is anchored by Palais Royal and Cinemark Movies 12, and was closed in late 2014 due to declining tenancy before re-development began in 2015.

CityCentre

CityCentre is a mixed-use development in the Memorial City district of Houston, Texas, located at the southeastern corner of the intersection of Interstate 10 and Beltway 8. Opened in 2009, CityCentre is a 50-acre (20-hectare) development with 2.1 million square feet (200,000 m2) of gross floor space, including 400,000 square feet (37,000 m2) of retail, restaurants and entertainment, a 149,000-square-foot (13,800 m2) fitness facility, 425,000 square feet (39,500 m2) of office space, and a variety of rental and non-rental residential developments. CityCentre has been recognized by the Urban Land Institute as a successful example of walkable, high-density development and progressive site planning in the United States.

Macroplaza Mall, formerly Pasadena Town Square Mall and Plaza Paseo Mall, is a regional shopping mall located in Pasadena, Texas, southeast of Houston. When the mall opened in 1982, it originally featured Joske's, Foley's, and Palais Royal as its anchor stores. Even at the time the mall was unusual in the Houston area due to the fact that it was one of only a few malls in the Houston area which were not located near a highway. Joske's became Dillard's in 1987. Sears was added as the fourth anchor in 1997.

Northline Mall was a shopping mall in the Northline area of Houston, Texas, United States, at the northeast corner of Interstate 45, and Crosstimbers Road. It is the new location of Northline Commons.
