The 1996–97 season of the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup was won by Barcelona after beating holders Paris Saint-Germain in the final. It was the last of four occasions that the Spanish club won the tournament.

The 1995–96 UEFA Cup was the 25th season of Europe's then-tertiary club football tournament organised by UEFA. It was won by German club Bayern Munich on aggregate over Bordeaux of France. Girondins de Bordeaux went to the finals all the way from the 1995 UEFA Intertoto Cup, its first season, being the only Intertoto Cup entrant to reach this far of the UEFA Cup. With this victory, Bayern became the third club to have won all three major European trophies. The finals itself was the only UEFA Cup final during the 1990s to not feature any Italian sides.

The 2007–08 UEFA Champions League group stage matches took place between 18 September and 12 December 2007.

The knockout stage of the 2007–08 UEFA Champions League began on 19 February 2008, and concluded on 21 May 2008 with the final at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow, Russia. The knockout stage involved the 16 teams who finished in the top two in each of their groups in the group stage.

The 2008–09 UEFA Champions League group stage matches took place between 16 September and 10 December 2008.

The 2004–05 UEFA Champions League group stage matches took take place between 14 September and 8 December 2004. The group stage featured teams qualified by their league positions and others who had come through qualifying.

The qualification matches for Group 2 of the European zone (UEFA) of the 1994 FIFA World Cup qualification tournament took place between September 1992 and November 1993. The teams competed on a home-and-away basis with the winner and runner-up claiming 2 of the 12 spots in the final tournament allocated to the European zone. The group consisted of England, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, San Marino, and Turkey.

The 1999–2000 UEFA Champions League first group stage matches took place between 14 September and 3 November 1999. The draw for the group stage was made in August 1999.

The first group stage of the 2001–02 UEFA Champions League was the first stage of the competition proper, following the qualifying phase. 16 winners from the third qualifying round, 10 champions from countries ranked 1–10, and six second-placed teams from countries ranked 1–6 were drawn into eight groups of four teams each. Play began on 11 September 2001 and ended on 31 October 2001, when the top two teams in each group advanced to the second group stage, and the third-placed team in each group dropped down to the Third Round of the 2001–02 UEFA Cup.

For each win, teams were awarded three points, with one point awarded for each draw. At the end of the group stage, the two teams in each group with the most points advanced to the quarter-finals.

The top two teams in each group advanced to the second group stage, and the third placed team in each group advanced to round 3 of the 2000–01 UEFA Cup.

The qualifying rounds for the 2001–02 UEFA Champions League began on 11 July 2001. In total, there were three qualifying rounds which provided 16 clubs to join the group stage.

The 1993–94 UEFA Champions League second round was the second stage of the competition proper of the 1993–94 UEFA Champions League, and featured the 16 winners from the first round. It began on 20 October with the first legs and ended on 3 November 1993 with the second legs. The eight winners advanced to the group stage.
