Udaypur is a village in Kalna II block of Purba Bardhaman district in West Bengal state of India.^{[ citation needed ]}

Kalna II is a community development block that forms an administrative division in Kalna subdivision of Purba Bardhaman district in the Indian state of West Bengal.

Purba Bardhaman district is in West Bengal. It was formed on 7 April 2017 after bifurcation of the erstwhile Bardhaman district and its headquarters is Bardhaman.

West Bengal is a state in the eastern region of India along the Bay of Bengal. With over 91 million inhabitants, it is India's fourth-most populous state. West Bengal is the thirteenth-largest Indian state, with an area of 88,752 km² (34,267 sq mi). Part of the ethno-linguistic Bengal region of the Indian subcontinent, it borders Bangladesh in the east, and Nepal and Bhutan in the north. It also borders the Indian states of Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Sikkim, and Assam. The state capital is Kolkata (Calcutta) the seventh-largest city in India, and center of the third-largest metropolitan area in the country. West Bengal includes the Darjeeling Himalayan hill region, the Ganges delta, the Rarh region, and the coastal Sundarbans. The main ethnic group is the Bengalis, with Bengali Hindus forming the demographic majority.

Geography

Behula River flows by the village. Most of the land surrounding the village are composed of rice fields. The majority of the village's reidents are farmers and businessmen.

Demographics

As per the 2011 Census of India Udaypur had a total population of 811, of which 412 (51%) were males and 399 (49%) were females. Population below 6 years was 68. The total number of literates in Udaypur was 590 (79.41% of the population over 6 years).^[1]

The 15th Indian Census was conducted in two phases, house listing and population enumeration. House listing phase began on 1 April 2010 and involved collection of information about all buildings. Information for National Population Register(NPR)was also collected in the first phase, which will be used to issue a 12-digit unique identification number to all registered Indian residents by Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). The second population enumeration phase was conducted between 9 and 28 February 2011. Census has been conducted in India since 1872 and 2011 marks the first time biometric information was collected. According to the provisional reports released on 31 March 2011, the Indian population increased to 1.21 billion with a decadal growth of 17.70%. Adult literacy rate increased to 74.04% with a decadal growth of 9.21%. The motto of the census was 'Our Census, Our future'.

Education

Udaypur has one primary school and one secondary school.

A secondary school is both an organization that provides secondary education and the building where this takes place. Some secondary schools can provide both lower secondary education and upper secondary education, but these can also be provided in separate schools, as in the American middle and high school system.

Culture

This village is home to a locally important festival called Ma Behular Jhapan.
