The National Register of Historic Places in the United States is a register including buildings, sites, structures, districts, and objects. The Register automatically includes all National Historic Landmarks as well as all historic areas administered by the U.S. National Park Service. Since its introduction in 1966, more than 90,000 separate listings have been added to the register.

The United States Post Office at Hannibal, Missouri, is a federal building previously used as a post office and as a courthouse. It is also known as the Federal Building or the Naval Reserve Center, and is located at 600 Broadway. The building's architect was Mifflin E. Bell, and it was completed in 1888. The building is an excellent example of a late Second Empire architectural style. The United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri met in this building until 1960, and the U.S. Circuit Court for that district met here until that court was abolished in 1912. It is now owned by the city.

Mifflin Emlen Bell, often known as M.E. Bell, was an American architect who served from 1883 to 1886 as Supervising Architect of the US Treasury Department. Bell delegated design responsibilities to staff members, which resulted in a large variety of building styles, including Second Empire, Châteauesque, Queen Anne and Richardsonian Romanesque.

The Newcastle Commercial District in Newcastle, Wyoming comprises the commercial center of this isolated Wyoming town. The town developed along the Burlington and Missouri Railroad in the late 1880s, with the commercial district taking shape between 1890 and 1952. The district includes twenty-three buildings, primarily commercial buildings, including two properties that are separately listed on the National Register of Historic Places: the Weston County Courthouse and the Newcastle Main Post Office. All of the buildings are considered "contributing properties" to the historic district.

It was built in 1891, and is a three-story, L-shaped, Romanesque Revival style limestone block building. An addition to the building was constructed in 1910–1914. It features a turret and campanile-like tower. It was went through renovations in 2024.
