As of 2001 India census, Vettichira had a population of 19414 with 9586 males and 9828 females. [1]

Chandanakkavu

Chandanakkavu is located 16 km. south-west of Kottakkal and about 3 km. south of Vettichira in Kurumbathur village in north Kerala (Malabar), India. [2] It is the birthplace of the 16th-century poet, Melpathur Bhattathiripad.

Transportation

Vettichira village connects to other parts of India through Kottakkal town. National highway No.66 passes through Kottakkal and the northern stretch connects to Goa and Mumbai. The southern stretch connects to Cochin and Trivandrum. State Highway No.28 starts from Nilambur and connects to Ooty, Mysore and Bangalore through Highways.12,29 and 181. National Highway No.966 connects to Palakkad and Coimbatore. The nearest airport is at Kozhikode. The nearest major railway station is at Tirur.
