The Washakie Wilderness is located in Shoshone National Forest in the U.S. state of Wyoming.

Contents

U.S. Wilderness Areas do not allow motorized or mechanized vehicles, including bicycles. Although camping and fishing are allowed with proper permit, no roads or buildings are constructed and there is also no logging or mining, in compliance with the 1964 Wilderness Act. Wilderness areas within National Forests and Bureau of Land Management areas also allow hunting in season.

Mount Burwell is a mountain peak on the border of Washakie Wilderness.

Continental Glacier is in Bridger-Teton and Shoshone National Forests, in the U.S. state of Wyoming and straddles the Continental Divide in the northern Wind River Range. Continental Glacier is in both the Bridger and Fitzpatrick Wildernesses, and is part of the largest grouping of glaciers in the American Rocky Mountains. Continental Glacier is situated at an elevation range of 13,100 to 11,200 feet and forms a nearly unbroken icefield over 3 miles (4.8 km) in length along a high altitude plateau to the north of Downs Mountain. Immediately east of Continental Glacier lies East Torrey Glacier.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Three Sisters Wilderness</span> Wilderness area in Oregon, United States

The Three Sisters Wilderness is a wilderness area in the Cascade Range, within the Willamette and Deschutes National Forests in Oregon, United States. It comprises 286,708 acres (1,160.27 km2), making it the second largest wilderness area in Oregon, after the Eagle Cap Wilderness. It was established by the United States Congress in 1964 and is named for the Three Sisters volcanoes. The wilderness boundary encloses the Three Sisters as well as Broken Top, which is southeast of South Sister.

The Cabinet Mountains Wilderness, created by an act of Congress in 1964, is located in the U.S. state of Montana. Protecting the wildest portions of the Cabinet Mountains and an integral part of Kootenai National Forest and Kaniksu National Forest, the wilderness had enjoyed more limited protection since 1935 as a Primitive Area.

Francs Peak, elevation 13,158 feet (4,011 m), is the highest point in the Absaroka Range which extends from north-central Wyoming into south-central Montana, in the United States. It is in the Washakie Wilderness of Shoshone National Forest, and the peak is also the highest point in Park County, Wyoming, which includes much of Yellowstone National Park. It was named after Otto Franc, a cattle baron and homesteader in the Big Horn Basin.

Wind River Peak is the highest point in the southern end of the Wind River Range that is located in the U.S. state of Wyoming. The peak straddles the Continental Divide and is surrounded by National Forest lands. The west slopes are in the Bridger Wilderness of Bridger-Teton National Forest, while the east side is in the Popo Agie Wilderness of Shoshone National Forest. In a cirque on the northeast slopes of the peak lies Wind River Glacier.

The Comanche Peak Wilderness is a U.S. Wilderness Area located in the Roosevelt National Forest on the Canyon Lakes Ranger District in Colorado along the northern boundary of Rocky Mountain National Park. The 66,791-acre (27,029 ha) wilderness named for its most prominent peak was established in 1980. There are 121 miles (195 km) of hiking trails inside the wilderness. Roosevelt National Forest and Rocky Mountain National Park officially maintain 19 trails within the Wilderness, 5 of which pass into Rocky Mountain National Park. There are also 7 named peaks, 6 named lakes and 16 named rivers and creeks within the wilderness boundaries.

The Coalman Glacier is a glacier located on the upper slopes of Mount Hood in the U.S. state of Oregon. It is the mountain's highest glacier ranging from about 11,200 to 10,500 ft, located within the crater rim, southwest of the peak. It was named for Elija Coalman, an early mountain guide who climbed Mount Hood 586 times.

Wyoming Peak is the tallest mountain in the Wyoming Range in the U.S. state of Wyoming. Situated in Bridger-Teton National Forest, a now collapsed fire lookout is located on the summit. Wyoming Peak is .75 miles (1.21 km) south-southeast of Coffin Peak, the second highest peak in the Wyoming Range.

Mount Wood is the highest summit in the Granite Range, a subrange of the Beartooth Mountains in the U.S. state of Montana. It is located within the Custer National Forest.

Klickitat Glacier is located on the east slopes of Mount Adams a stratovolcano in the U.S. state of Washington. Though within the Mount Adams Wilderness, the glacier is situated within the boundaries of the Yakama Indian Reservation. The glacier descends from approximately 12,000 ft (3,700 m) to a terminus near 7,200 ft (2,200 m) below which an old lateral moraine once was the northern margin of the glacier. Klickitat Glacier has been in a general state of retreat for over 100 years and lost 46 percent of its surface area between 1904 and 2006.

Jarbidge Peak is the second highest mountain in the Jarbidge Mountains of northern Elko County, Nevada, United States. It is located within the Jarbidge Ranger District of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. The boundary of the Jarbidge Wilderness crosses the peak.

Big Sandy Mountain is located in the southern Wind River Range in the U.S. state of Wyoming. Big Sandy Mountain sits along the Continental Divide, less than 1 mi (1.6 km) southeast of Dog Tooth Peak.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Bighorn Peak</span> Mountain in the American state of Wyoming

Bighorn Peak is located in the Bighorn Mountains in the U.S. state of Wyoming. The peak is the seventh highest in the range and it is in the Cloud Peak Wilderness of Bighorn National Forest. Bighorn Peak is 1.5 miles (2.4 km) south of Darton Peak.

Mather Peaks is located in the Bighorn Mountains in the U.S. state of Wyoming. The peak is the sixth highest in the range and it is in the Cloud Peak Wilderness of Bighorn National Forest. Mather Peaks is 4.5 miles (7.2 km) northwest of Darton Peak and 3.2 mi (5.1 km) south of Bomber Mountain.

Mount Dubois is in the White Mountains in the U.S. state of California. Mount Dubois is in the White Mountains Wilderness of Inyo National Forest.

Silver Run Peak is in the Beartooth Mountains in the U.S. state of Montana. The peak is one of the tallest in the Beartooth Mountains, the six tallest in Montana, and is located in the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness of Custer National Forest. Silver Run Peak is the high point of the expansive Silver Run Plateau, a high-altitude plateau in the eastern Beartooth Mountains.

Echo Peak is the one of the taller mountains in the Madison Range in the U.S. state of Montana. The summit is located in Lee Metcalf Wilderness within Gallatin and Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forests. Echo Peak is less than 2 mi (3.2 km) north of Hilgard Peak.

Tumble Mountain is in the Absaroka Range in the U.S. state of Montana. The peak is located in Custer National Forest. The tiny glacieret Tumble Glacier lies to the northeast.
