Wilmot (also Gilead) is a residential and business community in the village of Salem Lakes in southwestern Kenosha County, Wisconsin, United States. [2] [3] As of the 2010 census, prior to the incorporation into Salem Lakes, Wilmot was a census-designated place, with a population of 442. [4] Since incorporation, Wilmot no longer has its own designated area for population statistics.
Gander Mountain, a sports/outdoors superstore, was founded in Wilmot, and was named for nearby Gander Mountain in neighboring Illinois.[ citation needed ]
Wilmot Union High School, Kenosha County Fair grounds, the Wilmot Raceway, and the Wilmot Mountain Ski Resort are located in Wilmot.[ citation needed ]
A post office has operated in Wilmot since 1849. [5]
Walworth County is a county located in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. As of the 2020 census, the population was 106,478. Its county seat is Elkhorn. The county was created in 1836 from Wisconsin Territory and organized in 1839. It is named for Reuben H. Walworth. Walworth County comprises the Whitewater-Elkhorn, WI Micropolitan Statistical Area and is included in the Milwaukee-Racine-Waukesha, WI Combined Statistical Area. Lake Geneva, the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, and Alpine Valley Resort, and Music Theatre are located in Walworth County.
