Yambes is a Torricelli language of Papua New Guinea spoken mostly by older adults. There is little data to classify it, and it is therefore left unclassified within Torricelli by Ross (2005).
It is spoken in Yambes village ( 3°32′44″S142°44′48″E / 3.545596°S 142.746582°E ) of Dreikikier Rural LLG, East Sepik Province. [1] [2]
The Torricelli languages are a family of about fifty languages of the northern Papua New Guinea coast, spoken by about 80,000 people. They are named after the Torricelli Mountains. The most populous and best known Torricelli language is Arapesh, with about 30,000 speakers.
