General election

In August, Kelty was indicted over perjury and campaign finance charges. While he denied wrongdoing, this story dominated the campaign. [3]

Aftermath

In October 2008, Kelty pleaded guilty to several of the campaign finance charges brought against him. [5]

Henry would go on to be reelected in 2011, 2015, and 2019.

Incumbent Republican nominee Mitch Daniels was challenged by Democratic nominee Jill Long Thompson and Libertarian nominee Andy Horning. Daniels easily won reelection, defeating Long Thompson by over 17 points. Despite Daniels' landslide victory, Barack Obama narrowly defeated John McCain in Indiana in the presidential election. Matt Kelty, is an Indiana politician, an architect and founder of Kelty Tappy Design. He was the 2007 Republican candidate for Mayor of Fort Wayne, Indiana and the 2002 candidate for the 81st District Indiana House of Representatives. In 2008 he pleaded guilty to two felonies and one misdemeanor for violating campaign finance laws.

Thomas Christopher Henry is an American businessman and politician who is the 35th Mayor of Fort Wayne, Indiana. A member of the Democratic Party, Henry served five terms on Fort Wayne City Council from 1984 to 2004, representing the 3rd District. Henry is the president and CEO of the Gallant Group, an insurance agency specializing in healthcare consulting.
