The Brickyard 400 was an annual NASCAR Cup Series points race held at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Speedway, Indiana. The inaugural race was held in 1994 and was the first race other than the Indianapolis 500 to be held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway since 1916. In its inaugural running, the Brickyard 400 became NASCAR's most-attended event, drawing an estimated crowd of more than 250,000 spectators. The race also paid one of NASCAR's highest purses. From 1994 to 2020, the race was held on the 2.5-mile oval, for a distance of 400 miles. The race was dropped in 2021 in favor of the Verizon 200 at the Brickyard which is run on a combined road course and run a distance of 200-mile (321.869 km).

Josh Berry, in a dominating finish where his team, JR Motorsports finished 1-2-3, won the race after almost being involved in a wreck early in the race. Justin Allgaier and Noah Gragson would fill in the rest of the podium positions, finishing second and third, respectively.

For the second straight race, Noah Gragson of JR Motorsports would be able to hold off the field on a late race restart to win the race. The race was held on Friday, September 17, 2021 in Bristol, Tennessee at Bristol Motor Speedway, a 0.533 miles (0.858 km) permanent oval-shaped racetrack. The race was extended from the scheduled 300 laps to 306 due to a late race caution, setting up a NASCAR overtime finish. In a wild finish, Austin Cindric and A. J. Allmendinger wrecked across the line after a wild restart saw numerous passes for position in the lead positions. The person who crossed the line first was A. J. Allmendinger, cementing a win for Allmendinger, his 9th win of his career and the 4th of the season. To fill out the podium, Riley Herbst of Stewart-Haas Racing would finish 3rd.

The race was held on Saturday, March 26, 2022, in Austin, Texas, at the Circuit of the Americas, a 3.426 miles (5.514 km) permanent road course. The race was run over 46 laps. A. J. Allmendinger of Kaulig Racing would win the race after leading the most laps. This was Allmendinger's eleventh career xfinity series win, and his first of the season. To fill out the podium, Austin Hill of Richard Childress Racing and Cole Custer of SS-Green Light Racing would finish second and third, respectively.
