The 2022 season was the Jacksonville Jaguars' 28th season in the National Football League (NFL) and their first under head coach Doug Pederson.

Contents

Following a 3–14 season marked with on-and off-the-field issues by head coach Urban Meyer who ultimately got fired, the Jaguars were one of the most active teams in free agency during the offseason and spent a record $175.3 million in guaranteed money, with the notable additions of Christian Kirk, Zay Jones, Brandon Scherff, Evan Engram, Foyesade Oluokun, Darious Williams and Folorunso Fatukasi. They earned the first overall pick for the second straight year in the 2022 NFL Draft, which they used to select defensive end Travon Walker from Georgia.

Despite a 3–7 start, the Jaguars won six of their final seven games, tripling their win total from 2021, including finishing the season on a five-game winning streak to win their fourth division title and second AFC South title after a Week 18 win over the Tennessee Titans, securing their first playoff berth since 2017. They also became the second team in NFL history after the 2008 San Diego Chargers to start 4–8 and make the playoffs.

In the Wild Card round, the Jaguars rallied from a 27–0 deficit to defeat the Los Angeles Chargers 31–30. It was the largest comeback in franchise history and the third largest in NFL postseason history. However, their season would end the following week with a 27–20 loss to the eventual Super Bowl LVII champion Kansas City Chiefs in the Divisional round.

Draft trades

 1. 1 2 3 4 The Jaguars traded second-, fourth- and sixth-round selections (33rd, 106th, and 180th overall) to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in exchange for a first-round selection (27th overall). [1]
 2. 1 2 The Jaguars traded CB C. J. Henderson and a fifth-round selection (144th overall) to the Carolina Panthers in exchange for TE Dan Arnold and a third-round selection (70th overall). [2]
 3. 1 2 3 The Jaguars traded two sixth-round selections (188th and 198th overall) to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for a fifth-round selection (154th overall). [3]
 4. 1 2 The Jaguars traded fifth- and seventh-round selections (157th and 235th overall) to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in exchange for a 2023 fourth-round selection. [4]
 5. The Jaguars traded DE Yannick Ngakoue to the Minnesota Vikings in exchange for a conditional fifth-round selection (157th overall) and a 2021 second-round selection. The fifth-round pick would have become a fourth-round pick if Ngakoue was selected on the first ballot to the 2021 Pro Bowl (not as an alternate). [5] This did not happen, so the pick remained in the fifth round. Fans of several other teams unsuccessfully attempted to vote Ngakoue into the Pro Bowl and cause the Vikings to give up the higher pick. [6]
 6. The Jaguars traded CB Sidney Jones to the Seattle Seahawks in exchange for a sixth-round selection (188th overall). [7]
 7. The Jaguars traded QB Gardner Minshew to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for a conditional sixth-round selection (197th overall). [8]
 8. The Jaguars traded LB Joe Schobert to the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for a sixth-round selection 198th overall). [9]
 9. The Jaguars traded TE Josh Oliver to the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for a conditional seventh-round selection (235th overall). The trade was conditional on Oliver making Baltimore's roster in 2021. [10]

The 2010 Jacksonville Jaguars season was the franchise's 16th season in the National Football League (NFL) and the 8th under head coach Jack Del Rio. The Jaguars, who were in their second year of "rebuilding" under general manager Gene Smith, improved upon their 7–9 record from 2009, but narrowly missed the playoffs with an 8–8 record. Although blackouts were a problem in 2009 for the franchise, they sold out all of their 2010 home games.

The 2011 Jacksonville Jaguars season was the 17th season in the National Football League (NFL) for the Jacksonville Jaguars. It began as the 9th under head coach Jack Del Rio, until he was fired on November 29 and replaced on an interim basis by defensive coordinator Mel Tucker. Del Rio finished his tenure in Jacksonville with a 69-73 record in the regular season and 1-2 in the playoffs. He was also just 4 wins shy of surpassing his predecessor, Tom Coughlin as the winningest head coach in Jaguars history. The Jaguars had hoped to improve on their 8–8 record from 2010, but exceeded their loss total in Week 13, and were officially eliminated from postseason contention. With the 10th pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, they selected quarterback Blaine Gabbert from the University of Missouri, and Gabbert would replace Luke McCown as the starting quarterback in Week 3.

2012 Jacksonville Jaguars season 18th season in franchise history

The 2012 Jacksonville Jaguars season was the franchise's 18th season in the National Football League (NFL). It was the first under the new ownership of Shahid Khan and the first and only season for head coach Mike Mularkey. The Jaguars entered the season hoping to improve on their 5–11 record from 2011 and return to the playoffs for the first time since 2007, but did not and were eliminated from postseason contention. This season marked the third time in the last five seasons in which the Jaguars finished fourth in the AFC South. The Jaguars finished with a 2–14 record, not only tying the Kansas City Chiefs for the league's worst record of 2012, but it would also be the worst in franchise history until the team went 1–15 in 2020. Their 1–7 record at home was also their worst home record in team history.

The 2013 Jacksonville Jaguars season was the franchise's 19th season in the National Football League (NFL), the first under general manager David Caldwell, and the first under head coach Gus Bradley. Although they missed the playoffs and started 0–8, the Jaguars improved upon their then-franchise-worst 2–14 record from 2012; but failed to improve their 1–7 home record from last year. Much like 2012, the root of their victories were intra-division. The Jaguars also gained a close non-divisional victory over the Browns to finish 4–12.

Marrone was hired after acting as the team's interim head coach for the final two games of the 2016 season. The team improved on their 3–13 record from 2016 and ended their 10-year playoff drought dating back to 2008 with a Week 15 win over the Houston Texans. They also secured their first winning season since 2007 after a 30–24 win over the Seattle Seahawks. On December 24, 2017, they clinched their third division title, and their first AFC South title following a Tennessee Titans loss. They won the wild card game against the Buffalo Bills 10–3, then headed to Pittsburgh, beating the Pittsburgh Steelers 45–42 to advance to the AFC Championship to face the New England Patriots, the first time that they had made the AFC Championship game since 1999. The 2018 season was the New York Jets' 49th in the National Football League, their 59th overall and their fourth and final under head coach Todd Bowles. Despite starting 3–3, they lost 9 of their last 10 games. In Week 3, the Jets lost to the Browns by a score of 21–17, becoming the first team to lose to the Browns since the Chargers lost 20–17 on Christmas Eve 2016. The win by the Browns ended a 19-game winless streak. Week 6 marked the first season the Jets have scored 40+ points in multiple games since the 2008 season. They were officially mathematically eliminated from playoff contention for the 8th consecutive season after the Titans defeated the Jaguars 30–9 in Week 14. This also marks the first time since 2016 to feature pro bowlers. The Jets failed to improve on their 5–11 record from the previous season with a 38–3 blowout loss in Week 17 to the Patriots and finished 4–12 and dead last in the AFC East. Following the season finale, the Jets fired Bowles.

Despite a 1–5 start, the Colts managed to improve on their 4–12 campaign from the year prior with a 38–10 victory over the Tennessee Titans, and a 5-game winning streak. On Week 16, the Colts achieved their first winning season since 2014 with a 28–27 win against the New York Giants. The next week, they beat the Tennessee Titans in a win or go home match-up to reach the playoffs for the first time since 2014 and became the third team in NFL history to qualify for the playoffs after a 1–5 start and first since the 2015 Chiefs.
