The 2022 North Texas SC season was the club's fourth season. The first three seasons North Texas SC competed in USL League One, including their championship year in the inaugural 2019 season. In December 2021, North Texas SC announced that they would compete in the inaugural MLS Next Pro season, a new division three league in American soccer. [1]

The Western Conference is one of Major League Soccer's two conferences, along with the Eastern Conference. The 2015 Houston Dynamo season was the club's tenth season of existence, and their first under new head coach Owen Coyle.
The 2016 season was the eighth season for Seattle Sounders FC in Major League Soccer (MLS), the top flight of professional club soccer in the United States. The team were managed by Sigi Schmid until his firing in late July; he was replaced by Brian Schmetzer on an interim basis. The Sounders won their first MLS Cup in the 2016 final against Toronto FC, which ended in a penalty shootout after a scoreless draw.

The 2021 Sporting Kansas City season was the twenty-sixth season of the team's existence in Major League Soccer and the eleventh year played under the Sporting Kansas City moniker. The season began on April 17.
The 2021 Minnesota United FC season was the club's fifth in Major League Soccer. Their season began on April 16, 2021 where they lost to the Seattle Sounders FC 4-0 in Seattle. The club will play its home matches at Allianz Field in Saint Paul, Minnesota. The club reached the MLS Cup Playoffs for a third consecutive year, but lost in their first match to the Portland Timbers.
The 2022 Houston Dynamo season was the 17th season of the team's existence since joining Major League Soccer (MLS) prior to the 2006 season. It was the first season with head coach Paulo Nagamura, who was hired on January 3. 2022 was the Dynamo's first full season under General Manager Pat Onstad, who was hired with 1 game remaining in the 2021 season. Asher Mendelsohn was hired as technical director on January 3.
