The 2022 season was D.C. United's 27th in existence and their 27th consecutive season in the top division of American soccer, Major League Soccer. In addition to MLS, D.C. United participated in this season's editions of the U.S. Open Cup. United also participated in the Coachella Valley Invitational and the Capital Cup friendly tournaments. The season covered the period from 1 December 2021 to 30 November 2022.

Contents

During this season, United had a poor run of form, finishing in last place for the fourth time in franchise history, the third time with Dave Kasper as General Manager or President, and the second time with Jason Levien as owner. During the season, United broke their club record for the most goals conceded during a season (75), largest home loss (6 goals), and largest away loss (7 goals).

During the season, there were several notable departures from United including Paul Arriola, Julian Gressel, Kevin Paredes, and Frédéric Brillant. The club brought in David Ochoa, Christian Benteke, Taxiarchis Fountas, and Martín Rodríguez.

The 2021 D.C. United season was the club's 26th season of existence, and their 26th consecutive season playing in Major League Soccer, the top flight of American soccer. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and its ongoing vaccination efforts, the season began on April 17, 2021 and ended on November 7, 2021. Despite winning against Toronto FC on the last match of the regular season, the team did not qualify playoffs, making it their second consecutive season in which D.C. United did not qualify for the playoffs. It was the first time since 2011, that United did not qualify for the playoffs in consecutive seasons.

The 2022 Loudoun United FC season was Loudoun United FC's fourth season of existence, their fourth in the second-division of American soccer, and their fourth in the USL Championship.

The 2023 season will be D.C. United's 28th in existence and their 28th consecutive season in the top division of American soccer, Major League Soccer. In addition to MLS, D.C. United will participate in the 2023 U.S. Open Cup and 2023 Leagues Cup, their first international club tournament since 2016. The season will be the first full season with Wayne Rooney as manager. The season covers the period from 1 November 2022 to 31 October 2023.

The 2023 FC Cincinnati season is the club's fifth season in MLS, and the eighth season overall for the team including their first three years in the lower-division USL Championship. The club entered 2023 on a high note, having notched their first playoff appearance and first playoff win in 2022 after languishing at the bottom of the standings for their first three seasons in MLS. FC Cincinnati home matches will be played at TQL Stadium. 2023 is the second season with the club for general manager Chris Albright and head coach Pat Noonan.

The 2023 season will be Loudoun United FC's fifth season of existence, their fifth in the second-division of American soccer, and their fifth in the USL Championship.
